I think they will remain the Golden State Warriors.
I'm actually betting they'll go back to San Francisco Warriors.

They will go back to the more marketable name, but I think they'll push this "the Bay's team" angle in the meantime.

I think they'll probably go with San Francisco, which I don't mind, but I'd love to see Golden State retained.

The big move of money (and employers) is southward, toward SJ (49ers, Sharks, MLS, A's trying). The Sharks not only sell-out but people in the South Bay are crazy about them.

The hockey demographic tends toward big hairy guys (and women) with tats, teeth missing and names like Petrocelli or Kowalski. SJ has kicked in some Hispanic and Pacific Islanders, too). Conversely, SF does not have the demographics for a good hockey town. Same issue for football (the 49ers had fewer season ticket holder from SF than from Sacramento; the average fan has a 20 minute SHORTER commute to Santa Clara than to SF).

Doesn't mean they couldn't be lured for the right price. But it would have to be awfully right.
youve OBVIOUSLY never been to a hockey game

no question, but the Sharks do great in San Jose. They sell out every game and they dominate the market. no need to mess with it.

I've been to several in three cities and 2 countries. Four countries if you count amateur contests in Holland and Germany. Why?

More people PERIOD live in the east bay and south bay compared to SF, and of course that includes sports fans. You make it sound like there are no 49ers fans in SF though, which is hilariously dumb.

There is no "big" move of money and employers southward to SJ, at least not big enough so as to be detrimental to SF. In fact, lots of money and employment, particularly in the tech sector here in the Bay Area, is moving back towards dense central cities these days, like downtown SF...which is why SF's office vacancy rate has plummeted and rents have shot up recently. Here's one result of that phenomenon: Boston Properties has pulled out of the SJ market, while at the same time it's heavily focusing on SF:

Even as office landlord Boston Properties aggressively pursues San Francisco office construction, including speculative development, and beefs up its ownership in Mountain View, it is shedding assets in downtown San Jose, saying the market after 10 years has not lived up to expectations.

You've proved your south bay leaning bias and poor grasp on the economic and demographic realities of the Bay Area countless times already on this forum, and on some other forums too (in fact, I'm pretty sure that your constant stream of BS-filled posts is the reason you were banned from one of those other forums). No need to keep slinging bullshit around, we get it: you live in a fantasy world where SF is a largely irrelevant boutique city of yuppie reverse-commuters, and SJ is the "true" center of the Bay Area.

The truth is, both are relevant and act as business centers, but SF is a much larger economic engine than SJ. SF has a larger GDP, far more office space, far more retail, far more corporate headquarters, far more commuters coming into the city, far more national and international recognition, more government institutions, more public transit connections to surrounding cities/suburbs, far more downtown office and residential projects in the works, etc, etc, and all evidence points towards that remaining true for a long time. In fact I never see that changing, unless SJ densifies a lot, greatly improves its public transit, moves its airport, and then gets some crazy nonstop manhattan/shanghai style highrise development going on in downtown.

This is just trolling and absurdities so I'll ignore. But it isn't just numbers, it's demographics. The Niners released data that they had about 5 percent of their ticketholders from SF although it constitutes about 10 percent of the Bay Area and you would think that they have a much higher proportion of Niner fans since the Raiders presumably do better in East Bay.

Again, I think SF is a great and beautiful city; super for tourists, nightlife, views, restaurants, architecture, etc. Lots of entertainment, hotels, finance and government services. But it is the slowest growing county in the Bay Area as far as population and demographically weak for sports.

btw, this does not mean that the arena and the Warriors won't do fine in SF. And I support the idea of teams going to wherever they can get the best deal. That's just business.
