They've been quite careful to use a design palette which permitted some variation around the theme, so from around the site, if you look at it there is a bit of variation in the shading and shape of the buildings, but a lot of fundamentally similar feel.

I will say, they are set very very close together, as three "rows" of houses. I overlook this site and I think the residents of the inner core are going to feel awfully close to their neighbours front and back. If this was the norm in Brisbane it wouldn't stand out. Its pretty unusual as a level of density for Brisbane anywhere, let alone west end (which had some amazingly small blocks historically) _There is almost no interior public space, one very small green park to come in on the far corner (into the photo at the far end) and little or no real gardens: they get planter boxes at the stair entry on Rogers St.

I also think the corner property, which is the headline unit, is a very odd choice. For the kind of money this is going to cost you, you'd get something smaller with river views, or something higher. Its facing sunrise but into a hill, and has stunning views of .. a pub.

Purely selfishly, I hope it succeeds: there are at least two strong potential sites behind this build, and I'd rather they went to this style of development than anything else because I'd be the net beneficiary if they were built low. Trying to be more objective, I wonder what the balance of owner-occupier/renter will be. If it was pre-sold before build, it dates back enough that it might have a high rental investor element, and the market has depressed since it was commenced

(considering its low-rise, its been a really tragically slow build. Stockwell Muse started after it, and is substantially finished inside the time this one is in final stages. Soko on the river also began around the same time, and is nearly done. It goes to show that height is no barrier to speed of build)

1 Cordelia St Foundations dig

This is the current state which looks to be focussed on stabilising the dig boundary with tension rods and concrete.

This is the view I get of Manhattan, showing the way they're doing various colours and shapes to vary the look.

it also shows how close the builds are. I know some of this will be foreshortening from the angle of the photo, but at ground level its just as clear: these properties are very close to each other.

Good to see some upgrades to WESS and a new high school in the south Brisbane area.

From Sunday: Botannica roof top looking N,E,S. Note Brisbane One ground works almost finished. IVY and EVE dominate South Brisbane. You can see the towers starting to rise near the museum. West Village takes another crane with some early work being done.

Good those food outlets were not keeping with modern retailing. Hopefully new design will allow views out to the river from the walkway.

West Village. Not sure if anything new.

Backed by funding from Japanese bank SMBC, Hutchinson Builders has been engaged for the $100m first stage of two apartment towers on the inner-Brisbane site.

In the 14-storey Lexington building of 192 units, 30 per cent of the apartments worth $33m have been pre-sold. Seventy per cent of the 137 apartments, worth about $57m, in the adjacent Park 14-storey tower have been sold.

If that's the old riverside restaurants complex, yesterday's 7 news flashback said they were going to be demolished "to create more open space".
