RAJAMARGA DOUBTFUL OF GETTING READY BY THIS DASARA

Mysore, Feb. 24- The proposed Rajamarga which was supposed to add to the heritage look of the city and the footpath works around the Palace is doubtful of getting completed even by this Dasara.

Since funds for the works on the Rajamarga, Palace footpath and the multi-level parking at the Town Hall are yet to be released, the respective contractors have decided to stall the works from today.

Under the Chief Minister's Rs. 100 crore grant, Rs. 18 crore had been allotted for Rajamarga; Rs. 18 crore under JNNURM scheme had been allotted for the footpath work around the Palace and Rs. 18 crore had been allotted for the multi-level parking to Chabriya Associates from Hyderabad. However, a payment of Rs. 13.30 cr. from all the three works is yet to be paid.

Although the bills relating to the works had been submitted seven to eight months back, the officials have not released the funds. Without the clearance of the bills, further works cannot be taken up. Hence we have decided to stall the works, says Chabriya Associates Manager Amit Sahani.

It was ordered to complete all the three works before Dasara. But the stalling of works by the contractors since their bills have not been cleared has not come to my notice. Talks will be held immediately with the contractors and their problems will be solved so that the works will be completed by this Dasara.
