She should have submitted the last year announced projects status b4 proceeding with this year's halwa...

Example Last year CM announces shooting range facilities at three places

I am ransacking Google for any update on shooting track facility in Madurai SDA complex..

If any, plz share it .

Smart city: Corporation shortlists 7 sites for development

MADURAI: The city corporation, which has expedited the smart city project, has shortlisted seven places in Madurai city limits, out of which one will be selected and developed as a model. The model can then be emulated in other areas in the future. The corporation has given the residents a chance to suggest the area to be taken up for development. People can register their votes to select the place.

Soon, an exclusive website for the smart city will be launched. Corporation officials said the website http://www.maduraismartcity.com/ would be hosted at any time now. People can either use the website, a link of which would be available on the Corporation's official website, for voting, or the voting booths which would be set up at 25 places in the city. Based on the response, the area would be selected. The voting can be done till 1 pm on Tuesday.

Vandiyur tank and its surrounding areas, Tiruparankundram, areas around Meenakshi Amman Temple, Gandhi Museum, collectorate and GRH and its surrounding areas, Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam and its surrounding areas, Vaigai River bank and its surrounding areas and Vilangudi and Anaiyur and its surrounding areas are the places that have been shortlisted.

Corporation officials said that the details of each of the shortlisted areas would be uploaded on the website. The developments that are going to come up would also be explained. The basic idea is to develop the particular area into a model. It can be replicated by the civic body in the other areas of the city using the smart city fund. The Central government will sponsor Rs 100 crore for every year for five years under the project, while the same amount needs to be spent by the corporation or the state government.

Mayor V V Rajan Chellappa announced the voting pattern to the residents when they gathered on Friday for the second round of consultative meeting to get suggestions from the residents for the project. A large number of residents took part in the meeting. More than suggestions, there were many complaints about the civic body. Authorities said there were other channels to air their grievances and wanted the participants to only suggest ideas to develop Madurai into a smart city.

Whatever may be, water bodies should not closed. Already due to mindless development our water table gone too below and facing perennial water scarcity. TN Govt will not spend any money for Madurai unlike Chennai.

Nice article. But nothing will happen not today even after twenty years also. Take my word. In less than 5 years, 2 full fledged high court benches have come up in north karnataka. What is the case in TN? South had to struggle for 35 years for the same and now due to some incident here and there, there is a talk of closure of the bench. Who will suffer? Poor litigants who have to travel all the way to madras for each hearing.

To start with atleast state govt should create Greater Madurai Development authority and same way for Coimbatore also. The moment trichy city population crosses one million then it also should have a development authority.

This authority should be vested with power to enter into PPP agreement etc., In most of the cities, various projects are undertaken this way only. So why not for madurai, coimbatore and trichy.

Apart from the above, madurai and south districts should be declared backward area under a particular article as specified in constitution. This will help, the districts to get addtional funds from central govt. In Karnataka, few districts have been declared that way. Why not that?

I dont want to list out what all to be done for madurai and south TN. let us start with atleast the above two.
Our Dead are never Dead to us, Until we have forgotten them
