Biggest running railway infrastructure project in Czech republic is „New Connection“ between four major railway stations (Main station, Libeň, Masarykovo, Holešovice) in Prague. This project contains more then 27 km of tracks, 10 rail bridges (biggest one is 500m long and with four way track) and two road bridges , two two-way rail tunnels each more then 1km long. All of that will cost around 300 mil €. Construction period 2004-2008.

Great update rejow! Hope you will come here more often.

One question: Are there plans to make track from Plzeň to Cheb double track? And is it all already electrified?

#66 ·
my comments to Plzeň - Cheb section wasn´t clear, so I take second attempt:)

And is it all already electrified?
line is electrified since 80´, whole line is remotely controled from Plzeň (as first in CZ)

Are there plans to make track from Plzeň to Cheb double track?
Not only plans, project is u/c as you can see on pictures. Currently works are going on section Kozolupy-Pňovany.
Plzeň - Pňovany is done, but this section was double tracked somewhere in 60´, so it was only modernization for higher speeds.
Last part Pňovany - Stříbro will stay single tracked, becouse line is passing very narrow mže valley with lots of tunels and bridges, straightening of this part has been planed but it was too expensive.

Works on remaining part Stříbro - Cheb depends on the level in state treasury. there were huge plans something like VRT:nuts:

According to this map, high-speed rail (VRT) will go from Plzeň completely different way. What about track between Prague and Plzeň? Are there any constructions going on?

I think this modernisation on Plzeň-Cheb and Plzeň-Domažlice routes is quite sufficient, there's no need (and of course, no money :) ) to make all tracks HSR. But we definitely need some high-speed track to join western Europe. Route to Nurnberg via Pilsen should be built first.

Plzeň - Praha
according to what i heard from administrator of the track (SŽDC - Goverment rail track agency), hottest spot is part from Plzeň to Rokycany, because final stage of realization documentation is done (SUDOP - project company). Construction should start in 2007/2008, but don´t take it too serious, informations what I have are semi-official. :) It depends as always on money.

map:
there will be change. Újezd village don´t demand train stop, so these two tunnels will be joined into one 3700m long. Top speed will be more then 200km/h.

more info about section from Prague to Beroun you can find here:
sorry only in czech

Railway in CR now and future

Railway in CR now and future

Železniční síť v CR měří 9500 km
  • 1,868 tisíce km dvoukolejných tratí,
  • 2,993 tisíce kilometrů tratí je elektrifi kováno
V porovnání se státy západní Evropy

rejow

In the latest speech of the ČD press agent, was said that speed will grow for 200km/h from the begining of the new train shedule. Propably on Brno - Břeclav and Pardubice - Choceň route.
But I don´t believe in it at all.:eek:hno:
They also anounced new travel time Praha - Ostrava 2:55 (avs 120km/h)

^^
Se stavbou tratí pro vysokorychlostní železnici se začne až poté, co budou dostavěny všechny nyní stavěné čtyři hlavní železniční koridory. Ty by měly být hotovy mezi roky 2016 až 2020.

so, begining of construction works will be in 2020, first train ?2028?
