You're perfectly correct BeeGee.

In my youth long ago none of us could afford our own transport, thus on Bank Holidays we used to catch the ferry to Woodside and have a choice of excursions to exotic locations such as Rhyl, Conway, Llandudno, Llangollen, Shrewsbury etc. Or we had the option to get off the chosen train at one of the many intermediate stations such as Beeston Castle, Holywell, Mold, Ruthin, Denbigh and St Asaph, and spend the day there.

Very interesting. Can't help but feel Birkenhead (and Liverpool) would have benefited greatly from Woodside still being with us, not least of all the route to Paddington (especially with the advent of cross-rail), plus scope for a fully HS2 capable station even.
