^^ National media never shows interest in Gujarat's development. They only show terror of NaMo in Gujarat. They take all the projects negatively. But why to complain for national media, our own regional media is oppose to development. In local news paper they only show numbers of murders, accidents, corruption charges and other issues. They never shows positive side of government and what development work is under taken by government. We have such huge project like GIFT near Ahmedabad but our media never shows interest in what's going there. They only says that "Modi's terror - 3 workers killed during construction of towers"

And for every 1 good article about the riverfront, there are 3 bad ones. The media has never completely accepted the riverfront.

the last line so perfectly describes those stupid journos

#409 ·
Another good example of the media's step-motherly treatment of Gujarat would be the complete ignorance of GIFT city. I hav'nt seen a single mention of GIFT in the electronic media. Has any news channel ever done a special programme on GIFT? No, its all IT, IT and more IT.

Even for TOI it took an accident at GIFT to provide us with the first site pic.

BCA strikes land deal for new stadium

VADODARA: Cricket-loving Barodians can finally hope to enjoy international cricket in a state-of-art stadium.

Over a decade of after promising cricket stadium to the citizens, the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has finally purchased a huge piece of land for constructing the stadium. The land is located on Jarod Road about 7.5 kilometres from the Halol Road toll tax.

BCA authorities said that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has already been signed with the owners of the land.

The stadium to be built at a cost of Rs 100 crore will boast of quality cricket ground, seating arrangement for over 40,000 people, four practice grounds, practice wickets, spacious rest rooms and modern facilities for players that includes gymnasium and swimming pool.

A senior BCA official said that association has made deal to buy about 2.52 lakh square meters of land. The land will cost BCA over Rs 20 crore. "The entire plot is agricultural land and there are no hiccups in the deal like the previous ones. We have already inked an MoU with the owners who belong to the same family. In fact, we have already got clearance for acquiring half of the land while permission for the rest half will follow soon," the official said.

"Members of the BCA managing committee too were shown the land and they all have approved it. We will soon begin the process of inviting tenders for the stadium construction. BCA will soon have its own cricket stadium that will be one of the best in the country," the official added.

When contacted, BCA secretary Sanjay Patel said, "The process of acquiring the land is on and we will make official announcement on the stadium project soon."

Sources, however, said that the acquisition process will complete within two months following which construction will begin. The BCA had attempted to buy three different lands for stadium earlier, but it failed on all occasions.

BCA has been hosting international matches at Reliance Stadium for last several years

Rs 600 Cr BRTS in Vadodara to have a 52km network

The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system for Vadodara will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 600 crore and will have a network of 52 kilometres, covering 14 focal points across the city.

According to the feasibility report prepared by the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, the transport system will cover central city areas through a north-south-east-west corridor.

The BRT system in Vadodara is slated to be different from the existing one in Ahmedabad as it aims to provide an alternate Integrated Public Transit System (IPTS). “The feasibility report and further plans will not focus entirely on the BRTS but on a complete integrated system of public transport. While the BRTS will concentrate on the core areas of the city, local buses are to support this as feeders,” said H M Shivanand Swamy, associate professor at CEPT.

Swamy, who heads the project, has been associated with similar projects for BRTS in Ahmedabad.

In the first phase, there will be around 80 stations — a station after every 500 metres — on a 40-kilometre stretch of the BRTS corridor.

The remaining stretch of 12 kilometres will be developed in the second phase.

The focal points on these corridors include Raj Mahal road, RC Dutt road, Kalaghoda, Kothi, BSNL T junction, Karelibaug, Lalbaug, Labour chokdi, Makarpura, Susan Circle, Old Padra road, GEB, Gotri, GSFC, Fatehgunj, airport, Waghodia road and Baroda Dairy.

Though the limitation of road widths in Vadodara is considered as one of the concerns for the planning team at CEPT, in the first phase, the corridors have been restricted to the inner city areas.

At present, nearly one lakh passengers use the bus service in Vadodara on daily basis. There is a fleet of 90 CNG buses (63 mini and 27 regular buses). These ply on 40 different routes with 124 stops.

^^ Sorry to disappoint but thats a project in the middle east.

Those pics have been floating around the internet for years, ive seen it circulated as if it was meant to be in the Bharuch area (which would be slightly more convincing because its by the sea)

But its def not in Vadodara.

Top Ten Towns with Highest Nos. of Car Ownership
While this shows a sign of prosperity, it is bad for the city environmentally. Both Delhi and Chennai are notorious for their terrible traffic jams, with more cities heading that way.

Although Vadodara has enough greenery to combat pollution...

And Sayaji could you paste a link for your info.

Guj to be second most urbanised state by 2030 Ahmedabad, Vadodara To Be Among Richest Cities In India

By 2030, Gujarat will be the most urbanised Indian state after Tamil Nadu. More, Ahmedabad and Vadodara will be two of the richest cities in the country after Delhi and Bangalore. An authoritative report prepared by McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) has predicted that within two decades around 66 per cent of Gujarat’s population will start living in urban areas as against 44 per cent in 2008. While this will make Gujarat as the second most urbanised state, fast catching up with Tamil Nadu, the report indicates this will happen because the rate of urbanisation in Gujarat over the next two decades will be higher than any other state. Called ‘India’s urban awakening: Building inclusive cities, sustaining economic growth’, MGI report says the states that exhibit higher GDP rates also will experience higher urbanisation rates in the next two decades. In the last two decades Gujarat’s GDP grew at the compound annual growth of 7.5-8 per cent — in 2010-2030 it will increase to 8-8.5 per cent, higher than any major state. An analysis of how major cities of India will develop over the next two decades, the MGI report states Ahmedabad, which will have a population of 8.4 million in 2030, will also be one of the richest Indian cities, having per capita GDP of $8,100, next only to Delhi ($11,400), Bangalore ($12,600) and – interestingly – Vadodara ($8,500). Counted at 2008 prices, all other major cities, including Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune, will have lower per capita GDP. The report also says that Gujarat’s cities would need massive investments, more than most other cities, to upgrade their infrastructure to meet city needs. At 2008 prices, by 2030, Ahmedabad would need $246 per capita investment, Surat $235 and Vadodara $ 263. “More than half of the capital expenditure is necessary to erase infrastructure backlog and the rest to fund cities’ future needs,” the report underlines. While transportation and affordable housing have been identified as two of the most capital intensive sectors that would need investment, the report has identified 19 urban clusters in India, including two in Gujarat – Ahmedabad- Vadodara-Surat and Bhavnagar-Rajkot-Jamnagar – where rapid transport system, especially eight to ten lane express ways, is a must for “seeding” infrastructure growth. These urban clusters would need a per capita investment of $50.
