Hah! Whoever gets to string them together is going to have a hell of a time getting them to all line up. I suppose it won't be too hard, if you're using Photoshop and you put them all in layers.

When all is said and done, you should put all of the images in a zipped folder without the watermark, send them to someone, and let them make a video of the progress. Then the watermark can go back on in the video.

Ooh... When they start cladding your side, it's going to be fascinating!

Scaled from Google Earth, Joobn's place is ~1600m from Burj Dubai. One mile...

Hah, that isn't exactly what I meant, but that's neat too. I was actually asking at what interval the photos were being taken at.

Guys if you want to take pictures of BD, it is the right time to do so, because the weather is clear today... BD can be seen clearly from very far away (30 KM+)

Sway is significantly less in concrete buildings.
One of the pages of that big Burj Dubai presentation file I found last back showed the deflection of the building under a 100year storm event I think. The concrete section would move a tiny amount, the steel pinnacle would deflect a lot more.
Sway is worst in steel buildings that don't have a TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) - ie. Sears, the WTC rip.

That isn't from Abu Dhabi, is it? Not quite far enough...

But man, that's stunning. Can someone draw on the rest in one of those?

I measured on Google Earth from Dubai Media City (I couldn't find the exact address of the Media 1 Tower, the U/C building in the foreground of those photos), to the Burj, and it was 17 km, or about 10.6 miles.

Judging by that, I'd imagine that when it's finished, you'll be able to see it pretty well from at least 40 miles away (65 km).

Also, does anyone know the work schedule of the construction workers? I'd hope that they work most of their hours in the early morning/late afternoon. And do they take weekends off or anything like that? I've heard talk of them working 24 hours, but no one I know to be reliable has confirmed that.
