CCTV On Buses & Trains

The North East Line trains got them, now some buses have them (on a trial basis that is). 1 at the front of the bus where the Bus Stopping Sign is. 1 at the end of the bus where the service number plate is. 1 above the driver's seat and 1 directly opposite the rear door. Is 4 too much?

Anyways, where have you seen them???

Hi, there's a list being built up here.

However, it's not a good place for discussions so just keep it to reading.

Hmm the bus I was on with CCTV is not on 854's fleet list. Guess its just one of the many trial buses dispatched to different bus services from some bus pool?

Yeah. London buses have CCTV, are wheelchair friendly, and soon to have LED information displays and audio announcements. These improve security, prevent vandalism and are useful to commuters. We are on our way there, albeit at a slow pace.

But too bad all this comes at a price. These days, these features are quite necessary. We cant return to the days of basic non air con buses right.

Let the economy continue growing so salaries can rise, then we can have all the features we want at higher fares but with higher purchasing power. Thats a nice dream aint it.

Unless the govt subsidises all these extras, after all, its partly the govt's responsibility to defend against terrorist attacks and to improve our economic competitiveness where a mobile handicapped workforce or elderly workforce means higher economic benefits...

CCTVs are especially useful in crime investigations and would make for a good deterrent.

Just curious, do the buses come with "black boxes" then? Say it were to be blown up, how would the tape survive the blast? As for the trains, I understand that NEL's system is capable of sending the images to the Control Centre where the operators are able to observe what goes on as well as record the footage. Not too sure about the East West and North South lines.

For a pilot test project, a lot of buses seem to be involved...
