I may be wrong about an actual ban, but from what I hear from my mother, pre-war, the women who were employed in government offices did not wear hijaab- so where did that come from?
But my point still stands that it’s the people’s free choice (excluding in shabaab areas) so we should respect it. And it’s disingenuous of those who imply that the hijaab is a recent Arab influence rather than an age old custom & Islamic requirement. Widespread observance may be relatively new to our mostly nomadic, postcolonial, post-Barre identity, but hijaab was always part of our deen and the foundations of our culture are built on Islam. But I understand what you mean about the khaleejil's, they tend to be OTT. Peace. Last edited by The Rt. Hon.; March 26th, 2013 at 04:21 PM. |

Hey guys,
What say we have our own podcast/skype chats? We can talk about economic progress, development and how Somalia can achieve its full potential. I think that would be fun. |

I was actually thinking whether to post that in the economy forum, but then I thought that would be considered as derailment. I've only seen a couple of regular posters in that forum and thought it would be interesting to have some discussions with those folks. But of course anyone else is welcome to join.
Also, everyone knows there are no females on the internet. |

How do you make a link shorter to say "Source" instead of a long URL ?

Copy a link to clipboard:
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...#post101863301 Click Globe button in the reply pane where you put your text. Paste the link into the dialogue box that pops up, change the blue highlighted text to whatever you want. And here you go: Source |

Do you think the Shaytan will listen? That's where they make their money from. Which I still wonder how they still exist after Kismayo was captured and they lost a port.

Kismayo has now been captured. Any export will automatically be limited and regulated.

Charcoal is still exported at the moment, even though the government "banned" charcoal exports. Its just word of mouth, there is no regulation in kismayo port. It the only source of income for lots of citizens in the south, so it would be dumb to not let them export it if they arnt given alternatives.

The idea that Somalis not only use charcoal in 2013, let alone export it, boggles my mind.

I am disapointed that it had an influence of the country's constitution though, I think a secular Somalia would have been a better option.
