I like the scattered look, as if it has burst through the roof of the lower building(s).

Mark Baljak reports today that the Flinders Gate redevelopment is on the brink of going ahead, with Dexus going to construction tender. Car parking spaces will be almost halved, with another 20,000 sq.m. of office space to be added to Melbourne's burgeoning supply. Interesting read.

271 Spring Street update:

http://www.probuild.com.au/news/news...street-project
https://www.instagram.com/p/BYaHjnvB...dconstructions

"A significant milestone was hit at 271 Spring St over the weekend, as the project’s tower crane was erected.

This followed a successful 10-week archaeological investigation in collaboration with GML Heritage. Being built over a Melbourne underground rail loop, the building is one of only a few light weight steel structures under construction in Melbourne."

Thanks for your links, spinnn. We do have a thread for 271 Spring and I posted a shot of the crane on Wednesday.

This flew below the radar this week. AFR article suggests a tower similar height the 1 Flinders St

I posted a report about this, on Friday night, in the "banter" thread. Forgot about this thread. Anyway, the later Age report suggests 34 levels, or similar to Shell's 1 Spring Street. Goodbye to Philadelphia's hideous blank south wall.

The Brady Group's website could do with a refresh. Piling has started on their serviced apartment tower site at 109-111 Little Lonsdale, yet there is no mention of it on their website. A search for renders only throws up this one by UrbanMelbourne. Mark says it's 21L.

In case members are worrying about blank walls, the site has a low rise, presumably heritage, building to the east, whilst the north and west frontages are on a corner. The south facade abuts what used to be Rockman's Regency.

If you haven't taken a look at UM today, check out Mark Baljak's post on the Jackolope Group's proposal for 175-181 Flinders Lane. It will be topped by a surreal "Cloud Bar". Quote, "Taking centre stage from a design perspective is the Cloud Bar. 10mm electropolished stainless steel wire is fashioned into a cloud shape and has the ability to take on the colour of the sky during sunrise, sunset etc, effectively camouflaging itself into the sky." It is opposite BHP's Flinders Lane entrance.
