I stand by my comments on the aesthetics. As my Welsh friends would say, "gopping"

Sydney Metro viaduct, for comparison:

Sydney Metro North West Skytrain update. 28.8.2016. by Tim, on Flickr

And yes, it does matter. Particularly if you are returning the space beneath to amenity

I get that the axle loads are higher (a bit) but even so.....looks like it's been done on the cheap

There's another span ready to be lifted on the north side at Murrumbeena, i'd expect it up tomorrow or the next day.

The pedophiles must be licking their lips, soon they will those clear views into backyards they have been waiting for.

Passed Main Rd in St Albans today, the shops connected to the new station are unoccupied - are they still working on them?

McKinnon and Bentley are both empty too (at least they were last time I looked). I believe Metro in responsible for leasing them, but they don't seem to be in a hurry.

First picture I've seen of double wide piers. Centre Road, Clayton.

The vast south eastern suburbia of Melbourne is hardly the most aesthetically beautiful place on the planet so it doesn't matter too much what it looks like. Seems fine.

I would presume that the viaducts would be designed to support the weight of the freight traffic that uses the line (all of 2 trains per day these days, 1 per day east of Westall).

I dont think they are 100% finished as yet.

Some of the shops that were demolished are now located further down Main Road West.

Well according to LXRA's publicity the whole project is supposedly finished. They had a "street party" at St Albans last week to celebrate it.

New bus interchange is open there now, nothing special but better than the atrocity that was the old Alfrieda Street terminus, where you had to walk out onto the road to board a bus: https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-37....7i13312!8i6656

The biggest problem for St Albans Shopping centre is the lack of parking and maybe thats a reason the new station shops are still vacant.

Our business bank is in Alfrieda Street and its a nightmare most days to get a park,The removal of the level crossing has been a boon though

I used to dread having to go via the Main Street or Furlong Road crossings at peak times.
