Can't fault Seven Capital's form to date, I hope all these new proposals come to fruition too.

I did actually mention these two a little while back but nice to know that Seven Capital has confirmed what I'd asked. There's quite a lot of activity in terms of residential now and I'm just wondering if they're sniffing around a couple of extra sites - the old 'Clarendon' (?) conference rooms (Hagley Road) and the old Ciro Citterio, directly opposite the Ivy Bush pub, perhaps..... - In fact, I wonder if the latter is still standing...

Does that mean that a northern city will have to rename itself "Eight and more Capital City"?

This corner plot should be quite a biggie really like the one up Bath Row - no need for little 3 storey buildings in this area.

Originally the old proposal was for 98 flats, but this was rejected on the grounds it was too large. It was later approved for 80 flats.

Wonder if the council will feel differently this time having seen the plot sit empty for about 10 years.

Following the success of the Black Country flag, looks like there will be a lot of Birmingham flags popping up across the city this year.

Competition to create Birmingham's people's flag

Hunt has been launched to spread city's name far and wide and give businesses a chance to display their pride in the city

The search is on for a new 'people's flag' to spread Birmingham's name far and wide and give local businesses a chance to display their pride in the city.

Deputy Lord Mayor, Coun Mike Leddy, has launched a competition to find a design which could become part of the city's identity.

Inviting entries from across Birmingham, he said: "I believe a flag for Birmingham will instil civic pride, allow Brummies to express pride in our community, celebrate our heritage and culture and raise greater recognition and awareness nationwide."

The city's civic flag is flown only from public buildings with special permission to use it rarely given but a community flag would be available for all to use.

A final shortlist of up to five designs will be selected and put to a public vote.

Alongside Coun Leddy on the judging panel will be the council's official honorary vexillologist, or flag expert, John Gale, who suggests the city’s history should be represented.

"You don't want a recent event, you should have a historical event, something that has stood the test of time," he said.

The deadline for entries is March 31, with a public vote running from May 11 until June 28.

Entry forms along with hints and design guidelines are available on the city council's website.
