hopefully this is a sign that the much heralded private sector is now willing to invest in Newcastle and the north east, I hope its not just another money printing student accommodation block by absent landlords not that investment in Newcastle is not welcome but we could with something that generates quality jobs. fingers crossed. cheers.

It would be in a good position, close to the railway and bus stations and handy for the City Centre and Quayside. Time will tell I suppose.

Although not part of Stephenson Quarter, strictly speaking, this proposal no matter how early could be critical for the city, as it is in such a prominent site on approach to the city via train or Redheugh, but also FINALLY represents a tentative undertaking of building beyond Forth towards Calders Yard! May only be screening, but Wahey!

The planning portal link is down. This looks amazing, in scale at least! I just hope it's residential residential, not student residential!!!

I took a look at the application yesterday and there were only a few documents, plan of the current site and that was about it, nothing of interest 'yet'.

The building looks good, but the render is lying, the new office / car park building is built up to the path, so there won't be a grass strip, never mind what appears to be a park.

I think the grass front is somewhat artistic licence!

Jusging by the fenestration and relationship of double windows to single windows I'd say this could be residential residential, not student residential.

Typical layout of resi resi is two single (bedrooms) then a double (living).
Typical layout of student resi is 5/6 single (bedrooms, then a double (common room)

Could be clutching at straws. The lack of balconies worry me! Regardless of what type they are they are likely to be rabbit hutches. But at least it could be the first new build resi resi in the city centre again. Hopefully SQ resi by Malcolm Fraser (the blue buildings on the proposals) may be starting at some not too distant point in the future.
