Just Brilliant

Some brilliant images and postings from people who are obviously very passionate about the North East. I am new here and certainly like what I see. Well done!

I'm not sure the exact dimensions they are supposed to be? I know a few of these have copyright on too so not sure if they could be used?

Anyway if they can't be used at least they are some good photos to add to this thread!

I like the top one, but I don't think it's in the format thats needed. 3+4 are great, but focus too much on the Baltic.

How about this? I found it on Wikipedia, and the copyright author has given fee use of sharing.

I'd go for 2, 3 or 4 personally, with 3 as the favourite (showing much more of both sides of the river, not just the big three Gateshead icons)

Between 1 and 3 to me, if 1 can be used/changed in size then I'd love that to be used, if not 3 wouldn't be so bad, though it doesn't show much of Newcastle. If they can't be used is it possible for any of you to take a similar photo within the format needed?

Too many people would think it was another Sydney one.

I don't suppose anyone here has any old photographs of Walker, or know anywhere I can find some? I'm trying to figure out where the centre of Walker was, before it was all demolished and shifted to the now failing Church Walk...

I can only suggest searching all the "Local Photos Websites" (that we have listed) thats what I do!

I know there also were one or two books on Walker in the "Bygone Series" issued by the City Council. The City Local Studies Website (same section as the photos on the Websites Thread) will list then somewhere, I would think.

I'll have a look in my own collection too!!

Thanks NH. I've had a look through all of the links on the website link page on here (boy that list is useful!) and I've done a pretty thorough flickr and general google search. I was just wondering if anyone had any photos of Walker tucked away, but I've got loads to be going on with if not!

Photos I have (and I don't appear to have many) are . .

1 - Church Street 1960.
2 - Walker Road 1961.
3 - Church Street with Newcastle's very last trolleybus on it, just before the street was closed to traffic.
4 - Aerial photo of Walker in 1961.

If any of those might be what you are looking for, I can scan them in?

The photos of Walker Rd and the aerial would certainly be of use, but please don't take up your evening scanning photos, there's really no hurry at all!

The Walker Road and Aerial photo of Walker in 1961, are below. The Church Street 1960 photo (that you didn't say you wanted) was on the same scan as the Walker Rd one, so I have included that too!
