Nice to see some activity downtown. Hoping Novare announces a Skyhouse one day. Seems like Jax could support one if it was in the right location.

Necessary though. Should significantly lighten the load. Are those toll lanes, or express lanes in the center?

Widening roads hardly ever makes a difference, within 5 years you're almost always right back to where you began. I haven't looked at the project but the DOT doesn't do anything to interstates now unless it includes Tolled Express lanes.

They'll be tolled express lanes or Lexus lanes. The situation here is quite predictable, like it is across the rest of the state. FDOT is currently widening the Overland Bridge through the Southbank and next month, they'll start widening the Fuller Warren Bridge and I-10 to Roosevelt. In addition, they're already nearing completion of on the I-95/JTB interchange improvements. Thus, this stretch will become a six-lane bottleneck.

I-95/I-10 (Fuller Warren Bridge) Interchange Project

With the last three projects, we've worked to get pedestrian/bike improvements included into the plans, including a $20 million shared use path over the St. Johns River to connect Riverside and San Marco together. This Southside project is a bit more complicated though, in that they're slicing through residential neighborhoods and proposing to take out tons of houses for retention ponds.

I don't know about this 5 years that you are referring to, but as long as planners get it right and the funds are there for expanding the highway, they will achieve their goals of alleviating traffic jams during rush hour.
