What's the date on that last photo - 1963 or so? Construction appears to be starting on Bligh House, no Wentworth Hotel, State Office Block site (now Aurora Place) cleared but no construction, CSR head office at 1 O'Connell just commencing.

And what is the building on the (now) MoS site on Bridge St?

What's the grand building on the corner of Bridge and Macquarie streets? Does it still exist?

Yup, an absolute winner there Cul!!

BTW Colonial/Chief Secretary's Buidling now houses the NSW Industrial Relations Commissino, as well as the Governor's Office. I think she has the former SEC's office, including it's hidden staircase....

Is the building next to it the old Age HQ, or just one of their offices?

Premier Building was for a short time (a few months) the tallest building in melbournes CBD. (only 34m/7st yorkshire brewery tower was higher).
The Premier bldg was a whopping 5storeys or 27m/90ft high!

Yes, former Age HQ, it was expanded with a statue of Mercury on the roof added later.

I believe The Age further expanded into the building next door, as seen below.
All that is left of this building is the single ground level.
