Sydney History in Colour

A few oldies of Sydney in colour
Some dates in the search results were inaccurate.

Late 1960's

George St, 1956

Circular Quay, 1964 (Another date wrong, notice the hydrofoil at right which came into service in 1965, so hence its later)

1978

Mid 70's - Notice the AMP Centre is under construction at left

North Sydney

Great pictures.I like the pic with the tram rolling down George Street.I believe only one of those buildings are still standing today, the Brooklyn Hotel.

Love the old liners and trams.

The hydrofoils were a big loss too, they used to look so cool

The Harbour Nowadays ...

We looked at mountains until dawn, and then when dawn came, it was too pretty for me - there was pink and blue and gold, in the sky, and on icy places, brilliant pink and gold flashes, and the snow was colored too, and I said," Oh," and sighed; and each moment was more beautiful than the one before; and I said, " I love you, Momma." Then I fell asleep in her arms.
That was happiness then.

yeah they ruined it when they added 3 floor in 1955. thats why it will never be heritage listed and is scheduled for demo in 10 years for sydney square..

The turret was built as the shaft went up. Does look odd but thats how they did it.

Cool, thanks for clarifying. It didn't look like it was it's full height and it does look a little funny. That's really interesting it was built like that. I've always wondered how they got the turret in place at the top. Now I'm curious as to how they were able to move it further up the shaft as it got taller.
