One Canada Square help

I've got A Levels Graphics coursework to do. It's a Systems course and we have to analyse a system, and comment on how it could be improved. It can't be no pussy shit like a system of a bus route. Something big like London Underground train system.
There was criteria to choose from and I chose something along the lines of:
"Analysing how goods and people can be sent up multistorey buildings."
One Canada Square sprang to mind so I've decided to analyse the lift system and how it can be improved.
How do I get in contact with who I am supposed to, or do I go to the One Canada Square reception?

Cheers, any replies would be appreciated.

12 lifts I believe, 3 in each core, from what I remember.

Each core only visiting certain floors and the north eastern one is the one that goes to the 50th floor.

Very, very fast and very, very quiet.

Lifts were installed by OTIS think they travel about 6m/s for the fastest, the ones in Citybank travel at 8m/s, I believe they have some form of destanation control so you are guided to the most appropriate lift, other features to aid travel that are now available include smart systems where the lift controller learns about the building and will send lifts to floors it is expecting a call from also double deck lifts serving two floors at once are being used in the far east, new tower at Broadgate will have these, for more material visit the sites of ......
OTIS
KONE
Toshiba
Elervator world

Fastest lift i know are 17m/s see here
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4101309.stm

Also do search for "double deck elevators" and "destination control"

Hope this helps

Cheers, it was really helpful. Can I go into One Canada Square and speak to the receptionist to let me take a few photographs, check the delivary lift, take a few notes etc?

Cheers, very much appreciated.

The security guardsgo nuts if you take photos in the lobby (i've been thrown out twice for doing that) so they won't let you take photos inside the lifts.

Shit! Is there any high rise in London that'll let me do my project on them. And I don't mean those 15 storey brown estates!

Guy's Tower?
You could mess about in the lifts all day in that place and nobody would even notice you.

You could try the 28 floor Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, or the 25 Floor Metropol at Edgware Road. Just walk around the lobbies and look like a tourist, so wear some tartan trousers.

Cheers guys. Guys hospital? I don't think i'll be doing that! Only if it comes to it and its a last resort. I need something more solid. Like, Gherkin, One Canada Sqaure, HSBC, Citigroup, Tower 42, Barclays etc.

I've got till Monday to make my decision, so please. Just keeping chucking suggestions at me, i'm all ears.

Thanks.

I don't think you'll get inside any of the big buildings.

I was in the lobby of one Canada Square today, I was completely wrong, there's 32 lifts and a service lift.

There's a little diagram with the inventory of who's on each floor.

Best thing would be to show them a copy of the assignment, or maybe a something signed by your tutor. And maybe a driving licence to show it is really you. And just make sure you don't take a bag of any kind :p lol

I'm doing the same coursework... except I'm doing a systems analysis of getting a band to a gig and back.

You will find it hard to blag your way into any large buildings to test out lifts etc, so try the canary wharf website for further details...
