But this "maybe some day" Billy Wright would have to be 12k bigger than the current one. So that is approximately 8.5k + 12k = 20.5k. The phase 3 capacity has been quoted as both 38,000 and 37,000 because, as I keep saying, no detailed plans have been made for phase 3. Using the 37,000 figure gives a 21.5k Billy Wright. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/...e-green-light/ Having said that there is every chance a new Billy Wright could only have a 12k capacity, but still look bigger because of the extra tiers dedicated to corporate hospitality. The stadium would only be in the region of 40k in that case. Last edited by BoldTeddy; May 22nd, 2013 at 10:03 PM. |

Hi,
I'm quite amateur and unknowledgable here, but here is Old Trafford's North stand, which I believe to be 25,000 in capacity, superimposed on Molineux on either side. Either way it hits a road. ![]() Given the size of the land available would something like this be possible: ![]() (I.e. two stands, next to each other, to take up the available room)

The second pic is what i was thinking could be a possibility but would look stupid. A more realistic idea would be to keep the depth similar to how it is now but encorporate the entrance by bringing it outwards, making a feature of it (unlike the SC which is flat). So, in other words, bring half of the middle of the stand out by about 20 foot (I think).
I'm surprised that a 25K seater almost fits like that but is a really good mock up in showing how a bigger stand could almost squeeze in (if the dimensions are the same). I do like Manchester's North Stand, especially the small third tier at the top. Would love to see Wolves copy that but the depth may be an issue again. A design that's deeper in the middle would be one solution. Like Badger's Old Trafford pic, but with the corners cut off.
This is probably as close as they could get to the road. There would still be 'right to light' issues for the flats behind. I don't think this would be anything close to 20k though.

That's exactly the vision I have. Would look brilliant like that, with perhaps an even higher roof to accomodate more seats. Or slide in that small third tier under the roof like Man Utd.

BoldTed, I GET IT!! You are right. Sorry, I'm having one of those days today. I thought I was forgetting something when I was trying to describe it.
They will never get 20K seats within there! That 50K figure is an absolute joke; Is spending £90 million for only 15K more seats really worth it? Having said that Liverpool are paying £200 million for only 20K more seats (65K final), so at least it's not just Wolves. My estimation of 44K total capacity after completion will be about right, I reckon. The rediculous amount of exits hasn't helped this and all of that bare concrete. With regards to Safe Standing, I work with a former (retired) Football Intelligence Officer for Greater Manchester Police (Inspector). The subject often crops up in the office and he is always adamant that in his opinion, standing will never return to the top 2 divs! Basically, his point is that the police will never agree to it! It doesn't matter what the FA or PL decide, if the police don't agree, it won't happen!

I believe Morgan would seek planning on the BW and even do it before the JH so he could make it an all standing area (if it were passed and he had to wait). I think he has indicated this before and knows getting planning on the BW won't be a problem.
