I’m not a sports fan and never been to Subi or other venues, but the architecture is impressive. I was at the opening which was understated WA style with due deference given to Colin Barnett who helped cut the ribbon. And McGowan’s thanks to those who actually built it like the sparkies, glass installers, kerb builders, designers, etc.

I traveled by bus to the city then Armadale train to Perth Stadium Station (the signage in the trains and the stations is all Perth Stadium) all very smooth. Coming home I walked to near Hyde Park via Windan Bridge. There is signage at the stadium for the bridge but really insignificant, but still nothing to direct people how to access/exit the bridge at either end. Transperth had 2 people at East Perth Station directing people to the underpass but after that you are on your own. Takes about 20 minutes walk to the stadium.

As a fan of sports I would say this is up with some of the best in the world quite easily..Very spectacular-viewing angles of everything is superb. Most of the fans today were positively speechless you could see it in their faces they just had to sit down to take it all in.... Lovely bars and views out over Burswood, river, city and Maylands--great...
Great gardens and a nice walk.. 30 minutes to East Perth Station at a leisurely pace for those contemplating that walk over Windan Bridge...
Trains were great and seemed to operate on a good schedule but they werent overwhelmed either by massive numbers..
Cant wait till next weekend when the Aussies go in against England...

On train from Midland line for night session.
Will change over in city rather than bridge walk.

Have heard coaches boxes, changerooms, etc. aren't accessible today which is crap.

ABC TV News reported that Rita has acknowledged the signage deficiency at East Perth Station.

And from the Melbourne Age - Mr McGowan said he was supportive of the AFL Grand Final being played at the stadium.

"It's the least that the rest of the country could do for Western Australia, considering the GST they take from our state, that they hand the AFL grand final to our state each and every year for nothing," he said.

"The AFL Grand Final should come to Western Australia, because of the shocking GST situation that this state is dealt by the other states.

"It would be a small compensation, but it would be something."

Asked about the AFL adopting a system like the US Super Bowl, which rotates venues, the premier quipped: "Well we might get that here as well."

He added he might mention the idea to President Donald Trump when he visited Washington.

The MCG is contracted to host the grand final until 2037.

I did the same. Was fairly easy. The Armadale line is stopping at Claisebrook so you can switch there as well.

AFL Grand Final in Perth? B0LL0CKS! The G is massive and the trip to Melbourne is part of the occasion. Not forgetting all its history there. Why would the AFL agree to a venue that seats 40,000 less supporters to the Grand Final in WA's stadium just because it's new, or at the Gabba, the SCG or the Adelaide Oval? Can't see the Grand Final being played anywhere else but Melbourne. The mere suggestion of it is a joke. McGowan is a tool for even mentioning it; the rest of the country couldn't give two sh!ts what this state contributes to the nations coffers. Silly man.

Yeah, this was quite disappointing.

Couldn't believe how close you felt even in the last row.

I was very impressed with the stadium. As Dilaz said, even in the last row it was still a great view of the ground. I think the general mood of the crowd was full of praise for what we have got.

Iím sure that this is an attempt at humour, not to be taken seriously.

However, the rest of the country is interested in the GST question, as evidenced by deferring the Productivity Commissionís report until after the SA and Tas elections.
