Brilliant thread (and I haven't even read it all as yet). It was 2006 (when I was 20) when I went to Australia, first time on a plane was to fly to Sydney on my own! Good job I didn't mind flying (I actually loved it) The place left such a profound effect on me and for the past few years I've tried to repress it and be serious and think it is time to settle down back home in the UK, but I can't.
I only went for 4 weeks (only?! haha) and did the East Coast, Sydney to Cairns. A lot of my friends have been since then, (at the time I would talk about it like I had been to another planet, drove people insane going on and on as if I'm the only one who has ever been there) but funny thing is when other people have been, they do the same and then end up driving you mad. I have a friend now who wants to go over for 3-6 months and asked if I'd go.. I can't stop thinking about it, it probably is too risky a move but I'm seriously considering it and already started planning it out Needless to say, one trip to Oz was certainly not enough ( I didn't even get to see a Koala for starters!) |

Australia's Olympic supremo John Coates has told The Daily Telegraph the sunshine state could be a contender in 20 years. "I think under the present IOC criteria, the most likely city is Brisbane," Coates said. "The IOC is now saying that unless there are exceptional circumstances, they want the Games held in the July, August, September. "It will be interesting to see how Brisbane develops between now and the 30s. "You need to have in excess of 30,000 hotel rooms. For Brisbane, you could fudge it and throw in the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. "It's the best climate to host an Olympic Games in Australia in the window the IOC is now allowing. "You've also got a better chance bidding for a city that hasn't had it before."

Good thread, but why are there so many pictures of sport cars in the Perth section? Are you trying to convey how obscenely rich and expensive WA's capital is now due to the mining boom?
I did read somewhere that Western Australia's economy is growing faster than China's. You should really post some photos of Tasmania and the Australian alps. They're both home to some of Australia's most beautiful landscapes. Tassie...

As for the more exotic super cars, well I like them and they represent the wealth of WA well I thought.

For the second year in a row, Melbourne has been ranked as the best place to live in the Global Liveability Survey, taking into account healthcare, education, infrastructure, culture and crime. Adelaide climbed the rankings to fifth place, outperforming Sydney and Perth. Lord Mayor Robert Doyle says it is great news for Melbourne. "Too often, even in our own wonderful city, it's a bit easy to find the things that we think have gone wrong.
