Newark is still growing and growing! It's slowly growing upward and densifying. A lot of single-family houses are being replaced with little apartment buildings with parking built underneath.

The area south of Dover can use some significant road updates. In addition to widening Route 13, there is a plan for w connector road between Camden/Wyoming and the western parts of Dover.

DE 1 is also being streamlined south of Dover, with overpasses being built.

U.S. 13 could go to six lanes in Camden-Wyoming

Those looking to make a stop at Walmart or Lowe's in Camden will have a much better chance at making it a quick trip in the next couple of years.

Next Wednesday, they'll be able to comment on plans to improve traffic congestion, especially along the U.S. 13 corridor.

The roads in and around the towns of Camden and Wyoming have continued to experience high traffic volumes at peak times during the day, causing noise and environmental concerns from residents. The number of traffic accidents along US 13 in the Camden-Wyoming area the past few years have also sparked concerns.

Delaware Department of Transportation officials conducted a study of the south Dover/Camden/Wyoming area last year to analyze existing and future (2045) traffic within the vicinity of the towns, including U.S. 13 and other connecting roadways.

The new library on DE Route 9 will open soon!

Quote:
$30 million library on Del. 9 to open next week

In the decades Vernon Jackson has called Dunleith home, residents of the Del. 9 corridor south of Wilmington say that government has mostly overlooked their piece of New Castle County.

Now, as the steel and glass shell of the area’s new $30 million library has risen above the rest on the avenue, that perception is being cast in a different light.

“I never thought I’d see something like this hit my neighborhood,” said Jackson, whose called the corridor home most of his life. “They usually give this stuff to Newark or Hockessin or something.”

New Castle County government will open the 40,000-square-foot library at the intersection of Del. 9 and Lambson Lane on Sept. 12.

The Little Heaven grade separation project, turning two at-grade intersections into one limited-access intersection. is outlined at this DelDOT webpage:

These PDFs show what the new interchange will look like:

Here a construction photo of the US 301 expressway and DE Route 1 intersection, looking north. The two expressways will merge immediately north of the Biddles Corner Toll Plaza, west of Port Penn.

Plans to redevelop the old Three Little Bakers Country Club are still contentious. You can see the exact plans for the open area here.

County at crossroads in Three Little Bakers golf course lawsuit and
development effort

Seven years ago, New Castle County government sued the owner of the former Three Little Bakers Country Club over its plans to build some 288 residences along its 18-hole golf course in Pike Creek, contending the density was too high.

Now the Onix Group, which owns the 180-acre golf course property off Skyline Drive, is suggesting a deal to end the litigation: Reduce the number of homes built to 224 and provide a $1 million fund for residents to maintain land once used for fairways and putting greens.

The county has already spent nearly $1 million in legal fees fighting to enforce deed restrictions that Onix will soon ask the County Council to amend. And some neighbors who live along the course that has been dormant since 2010 don't care to see development.

"I feel like we are going to be turned into Bear," said Ela Mandell, who for two decades has lived in the Plum Run community adjacent to the course, which was also known as Pike Creek Golf Club.

Here's what Linden Hill Station looks like now, after this article about construction starting way back almost two years ago:
