Haha, I can think of one example.

Always found the arrangement of those two so close to one another very surprising.

In all seriousness, this block will look like a very "healthy" block from Water Street. Glad to see some development away from the Lake.

I actually love those two buildings from the other direction: Cathedral Square. I love how they rise above the Cathedral and stand so tall in the background.

Pic is from Retinal Fetish on flickr.com

I was in on the third floor of the building that the Business Journal is in and just found the view spectacular. It's not quite represented by the image above but you get the idea.

The more I look at this project, the more I like it. Not so much in terms of architecture but the fact that this building isn't being built where we have seen the majority of the recent projects being built. It's not by the lakefront and it's also not by the new arena. Office proposals are probably one of the hardest projects to pull off, so the fact that the developers are confident enough to build it where they are is really a signal to the confidence developers have in Milwaukee and it's downtown. It's really unfortunate that the River on Wells couldn't have joined this project in rising but hopefully another developer will take interest in adding some more housing units and opt to build another apartment building near this building.

After reading that article from BizTimes today and seeing the renderings of this one again, I think I like this building better than I originally did. It's going to be a great addition on that corner and will really continue to enhance that corner a lot. I can't wait to see that parking structure start to come down this summer!

I thought I saw soil samples being drilled on site today. Can someone else confirm that is what I saw driving buy. Rig was on the NW corner or so.

Yeah, they've been doing some initial testing work on the site the last few weeks. We recently got a corporate update e-mail stating that demolition of the parking garage on that corner would start in September of this year.

From announcement to construction in less than a year? That's breakneck speed in these parts. I'm really excited for this, and hope nothing puts a dent in these plans.

Since the pictures didn't post correctly, if you click on the link provided below there are some images for signage, and a top floor view as well. My apologies for not being able to post them directly to the forum.

No worries about not being able to post the pictures to the forum, its tricky and I don't know how to earlier. However, that link is from December 8th, 2016 so for that I'll accept your apology.

I actually don't recall seeing all of these, especially the view from the top floor.

Yep, those were the ones I was trying to post seeing that those in particular weren't posted yet. I knew the article was dated back to December though

I was listening in on the Plan Commission meeting yesterday and thought I'd share some things that were mentioned about the project to the commission:

--First floor retail with flagship BMO Harris Bank branch at Water & Wells with additional retail on Broadway & Wells
--Eight levels of parking above retail
--14 stories of office space above parking
--Construction starts Q4 2017
--Building opens Q4 2019

The company is also debating whether to add a low-rise parking structure on their current surface lot on Broadway. There may be first floor retail with that, too. That structure would have a skywalk across the alley connecting to the existing building. The current BMO tower would see various facade enhancements that would be tasteful to honor M&I Bank's legacy in Milwaukee.

1 Retail + 8 Parking + 14 Commercial = 23 Stories to my count. Am I missing something? Has this been scaled down?

You can probably count a story or two for utilities.

Not much to report. It's gone through all approvals, right? We have the designs, and know parking garage demo is to start this fall.
