So many errors in modern thought. These blind slaves are told they are “free” and “highly educated” even as they march behind signs that would cause any medieval peasant to run screaming away from them in panic-stricken terror. The symbols and concepts that modern man embraces with the naive trust of an infant would be tantamount to billboards reading, ‘This way to your death and enslavement,’ to the understanding of the traditional peasant of antiquity

I remember that! I wonder what happened to that deal, I haven't heard about that lately. There definitely needs more cooperation between the telecom companies when it comes to infrastructure, it's ridiculous that they don't even have a unified phone number system (at least that was the case when I was there).

Mr. Husien the girls are attacking you tonite. haha.

I thought this thread was started by Janub. In addition, I have hard time understing how some people are comparing Turkey with some poor African countries like Ethiopia and Uganda.

Hmm, well it's nice to see Turkey aiding Somalia. It appears if it the country has done a lot more for Somalia than our so called 'superpowers' have. Nice to know that Somali has a friend, who doesn't just talk, in an emerging global player...

I understand DSP, Arinze, and Abesha's opinions on the matter. But the thing I don't get is Xusein saying Turkey wants to see Somalia as a nation again. Does that mean Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia don't? If you mean Turkey is looking out for Somalia by forging more economic relations with the nation, I have to say we have to keep in mind the situation in Somalia's neighbors. They're all poor too, don't have many large businesses that have the experience to transfer technology or have capital to expand into Somalia and support the revival of the country's economy.

+1 No one want Somalia to forever be marred in war, but beyond a few things here and there most nations cannot compete with the UAE or Turkey, its simple.

And trying to guilt trip them is awful.

This discussion is frankly pointless. Just read post #38 and get back at me.

I don't expect or even care if regional African countries do anything in Somalia. I am just saying that Turkey's approach to the situation will be the winning strategy.

Your retort had absolutely nothing to do with his point. It was sarcasm.

Why are you ignoring my post Xusien? The one right above Janub's (we posted at the same time).

Turkey is more developed than African countries so I think they can make more impact than the average African country obviously. I think the muslim angle also counts to an extent

I hope to see more of this to come and Somalis could not have expected a more promising nation to take their hand.
Turkey's influence has spread far & wide, into the Central Asian Republics after the Soviet collapse, its become a big brother to conflict-filled Syria & now a partner with Egypt.

However, with all those responsibilities, were I in Turkey's position I'd stay clear of Somalia. It's not really worth becoming the US of the Middle East & Muslim World. Africa!
