Firstly, thanks for the documentary and well done on making it. The scenes of the GC at the start are really nice.

However, your statement near the end of:

"It is not morally or ethically right to build on public park and crown land. This should be the end of a long debate."

... is quite simply wrong. Blanket statements like this undermine the subtleties of the debate. Obviously private development will and should occur on public land, where deemed appropriate.

Your claims that "the figures just don't add up" is yet another unqualified blanket statement. The Save our Spit "president" who speaks for half of the documentary is a freelance actor and not an engineer. I realise journalism requires a degree of hyperbole to draw attention, but this type of unqualified hysteria weakens the anti-development argument.

The tender process will require experts from the fields of engineering, economists, accountants, architects etc. They will do the real sums and it's only at that point will anyone determine whether they add up or not.

This proposal may have to compete with other proposals for a cruise ship terminal. Wavebreak Island is part of the area that has been zoned as part of the expressions of interest.

Should of mentioned I only did the filming for this project.
It was a Uni film project, and I didn't have a roll in setting up the interviews or the editing.

My biggest problem is that it will wreak/severely hinder established industries like surfing, diving, fishing, kayaking and whale watching. Which already bring in millions of dollars - Almost as much as a cruise ship terminal would.
There is some much marine life under there!
