I've heard quite a lot about this beautiful town now these great photos make me want to visit there. I'm going to Berlin next year, is there a direct train service?

Yes, there is a direct connection from Berlin central station to Wittenberg. You can take the fast Intercity Express or another train which is cheaper but also slower. With the ice its 40 minutes and with the other train around 70.
