Food Market @ Westown Hub
Link: http://www.cairozoom.com/home/GammaGallery/4404
We marched our rumbling stomachs and restless appetite to the beat of Westown Hub's Food Market parade! Aside from sinking our teeth into every pop-up food vendor around each corner, we found ourselves battling a whopping 1KG burger monster for a mini-Ipod. Dignity barely intact, having lost the challenge, we ended our insanely delicious Friday on a bluesy note with Bluezophrenia's rocking tunes.

It was that 'Red Weekends' time of the week again when Vodafone Red invited us, a few media friends, and their RED culture buffs to embark on a magical journey through ancient Egypt! Our designated drivers for the day escorted us to what would become our breathtaking 'Night At The Museum' in a private, after closing hours tour, unlocking all of the hidden relics, mysteries and splendour of our ancient civilization with Dr.Zahi Hawas! Speechless and hungry, our magnificent evening was concluded with a much needed cocktail dinner at The Nile Ritz Carlton Garden. Check it out.

Link: http://www.cairozoom.com/home/GammaGallery/4402
Egypt's most ferocious music battle, Battle Of The Bands has reached it's final stages! For their banging semi-finals round, four bands met their fate at the Citadel in Cairo, narrowing the odds down to two. The tension was high however, things started to look up following a super lit performance by Egyptian Rapper, Abyussif's hard hitting flow before quirky fusion band, Sharmoofers sealed the deal.

Keji On The Nile @ Keji
Link: http://cairozoom.com/home/GammaGallery/4524
Something delicious has just anchored itself by the Nile and we got the first scoop! Sizzling new restaurant, Keji opened it's doors, luring the city's top players in with tantalizing aromas from the mountains of Peru to indulge in their Nikkei delicacies. Incase you're not familiar with the sensuous cuisine, picture the fine culinary art of Japanese gastronomy enriched with fragrant Peruvian spice, dancing around on your palettes. Of course the warm company and scrumptious menu would not be complete without an array of exotic cocktails and those sinfully delicious creations were crafted by their master Greek mixologists for the occasion. Feast your eyes!

Elisa Sednaoui Foundation Gala @ Nineteen Twenty Five
Link: http://www.cairozoom.com/home/GammaGallery/4503
Life is a circus and mama MO4 Network brought us the golden tickets to the most fabulous event Cairo has seen, in honour of the Elisa Sednaoui Foundation at Nineteen Twenty Five. The fierce Italian/ Egyptian model, muse and philanthropist flew in with godfather and crowned lord of the world's sexiest footwear, Monsieur Christian Louboutin himself, to attend the gala aimed at raising funds for empowering children in Egypt with education. And while acrobats descended from Italy for the occasion, yours truly were the real jugglers there. Between mingling with the stars and walking a thin rope of sanity with all the magnificent live entertainment for the night, to lining up for the raffle tickets' extravagant goods and capturing it all while still looking fabulous, we think we did a pretty good job. Check it out.

This has got to be one of the most awesome events in Egypt, I would've totally attended if I had been in Cairo.

Riseup Summit '16 @ The Greek Campus

The biggest and boldest entrepreneurship summit took downtown Cairo by storm once again, as some of the brightest minds across a multitude of industry came together to mentor, inspire and educate Egypt's own budding entrepreneurs.

This city is so impressive!!!
About the women, in Egypt is it allowed even being muslim dont use hijab (I mean... is there some kind of prejudice for those who dont use?)
I was expecting to see many women using hijab, was a surprise for me those pictures! I had read that using the hijab was prohibited on TV until a few years, is it true? So using hijab is a like a personal decision?

I'm sorry for those questions, I'm brazilian and I just want to know more about your country (It's so famous!!)

Don't worry about it, I don't mind the questions. The purpose of this thread is to give people an idea of what life looks like for middle-class Egyptians.

The hijab is not compulsory for anyone in Egypt, but many Muslim women wear it out of religious conviction, family pressure or peer pressure. The law is the same for Muslims and Christians, Muslims in Egypt can also drink alcohol legally, mingle with the opposite sex, get tattooed etc. Most young middle class (and up) women in the cities don't wear the hijab. In Cairo and Alexandria and maybe other major cities there is no prejudice, but in more conservative places there might be. Traditionally even Christians in rural areas cover their hair with a scarf.

We strolled through the nooks and crannies of Downtown Cairo with our D-Tour buddies on one breezy Friday morning, but little did we know, we'd be running into a Christmas surprise by the end of our journey. Enough with the strolling and more with the scrolling!

An Egyptian businessman, Nader Riad, decided to start an initiative to encourage people to read more by giving out free books. He placed a bookshelf in the middle of Alfi Bey Street and donated his old books, will urging others to do the same.
