Annie Macs cafe has now moved to a unit on Vauxhall Road.

I think there is only Fishlocks Florist unit left to move. The units are only small so demolition should be quick.

I went past this one today and hoardings have been erected around the perimeter.

The buildings were stripped a few months back so demolition will be imminent.

Certainly seeing this and the developments around Liverpool Waters will be a massive boost in the new year, we need a shot in the arm like this. Come on Elliot lad, make this one happen.

I guess his pipeline has finite "bandwidth" and since finishing the Georgian district terrace with modern extension and the Parliament place scheme then he can shift contractors onto things like Aura and Infinity. I actually think Aura is one of his worst schemes, but infinity is by far the best. So swings and roundabouts.

Psychologically and in terms of marketing/PR, Infinity will do more for the city than ten "human scale" projects.

You drive down the M602, see Beetham and, love it or hate it, you are undeniably greeted by a building that says "Welcome to the big city". It screams ambition. It screams money. It screams "we will build, no matter what you think".

Some find that vulgar but many of those are the voices that are holding the city back.

Great cities are led by those who think their biggest, most ambitious and controversial buildings are yet to be built. Never satisfied with what they have and fight tooth and nail, even against other cities, to swallow every pound of investment for itself.

It's like LFC in the 90s. Family run by people obscenely proud that they were refereed to as the biggest small club in the world, sneering at others for becoming PLCs.

If we ever see a boom like in the 00s I hope we have an administration that let's loose and absolute orgy of building, the likes of which we have never seen.

I would much rather we got 200 new builds, with 30 of them getting the Carbuncle Cup, than 50 new buildings, every single one of which wins the Stirling Prize.

Yours will look nice.

It's like the recent passport debacle. Mine will get me tariff free access to half a billion people and free movement across 27 nations. Yours will be blue.

Oh. Merry Christmas!
