KLM should have bought Air France, instead of the other way around.

Could be that AMS (due to strong KLM) will surpass CDG by passenger numbers soon.

KLM's US-oriented campaign

KLM has introduced a US-oriented campaign to put themselves on the market being an airline, in a weird way. KLM has made four videos and in this link one can find the YouTube-link to the craziest one:

http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/nieuw...renigde-staten

It is made because in contrast to Air France and British Airways, KLM is not immediately seen as an airline. I reckon this has to do with the lower presence at one side and not highlighting the slogan "Royal Dutch airline" that clarifies it's an airline.

KLM pours first draught Heineken beer on flight to Curaçao

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines today launches the Heineken draught-beer trolley on board flight KL735 to Curaçao. KLM can now pour its own draught Heineken in World Business Class. Draught beer is not a standard onboard feature. Today, the trolley will be used for the first time on a regular flight to Curaçao.

About the draught-beer trolley
The beer that is served from the draught trolley is delivered cold to the aircraft in kegs which are enclosed in highly-insulated shells. These keep the beer at the right temperature, guaranteeing cold draught beer is on tap throughout a hot flight. A select group of cabin personnel have received special training to pour perfect beer at altitude, which in no way differs from the draught beer passengers are used to on the ground.

Innovative keg
KLM works constantly on product innovation to improve the comfort of its passengers. The development of the draught trolley is a shining example of this. It took KLM and Heineken years to develop the trolley, which carries a highly innovative keg. The “BrewLock” keg works on air pressure instead of CO2. This is because air pressure in an aircraft cabin is very different from air pressure on the ground. The air pressure brings the “BrewLock” up to the right pressure, compensates for the low pressure onboard, and builds up the pressure at the tap.

the way the olympic athletes were transported back home to the Netherlands was a disgrace. NOC-NSF announced a losers flight so athletes that finished early without medals were forced to go back with the losers flight as NOC-NSF said that athletes should not be distracted by finished athletes doing nothing but drinking and causing nuisance. Even when Inge Dekker offered to stay in another hotel, NOC-NSF prohibited her to do so because of her safety (which I find bull because in which sense is Rio during the olympics unsafer than many other countries where athletes come from?). And then there was made an exception for Ranomi Kromowidjojo as she has a relationship with Ferry Weertman. The hypocrisy. Because of the sour loser flight, that meant a blow to the unity of Dutch athletes, numerous athletes refused to attend the homage in Amsterdam.

The press release specifically mentions that the new long-haul airline will not be a low cost airline (from a passenger perspective).

The only thing low cost will be the costs of the pilots and cabin crew that are going to work for this new airline. Basically it's a way for AF-KLM to by-pass the current AF crew contracts. They will not be transferring personal from AF to the new airline, it will just new staff with new contracts. They hope that the unions won't be against it, although the first reactions from the unions are not that positive.
