We all know that the largest hotel in the world is the Hotel First World in the Genting Highlands with 6,114 rooms. The First World is a good hotel, but has a extremely weird exterior facade. The Venetian/Palazzo complex in Las Vegas is the world's largest hotel complex with 3,036 rooms in the first tower, 1,013 rooms in the Venezia Tower, and 3,068 in the Palazzo Tower. Well, what about the largest hotel in a specific city? The Beijing International Hotel is the largest hotel in Beijing with over 900 rooms, the Sheraton Vancouver is the largest hotel in Vancouver with 734 rooms in two buildings (One Wall Centre is one of those buildings). Any other cities with hotels as large as those two?

* I had the idea to start this thread because every time I look up the largest hotel in a specific city, even on Google, they give me some of that "Best Western - World's Largest Hotel Chain" crap.

First World Hotel in Genting Highlands, Malaysia has 6,114 rooms. It's listed as the top by Guinness World of Record because
"** MGM Grand is not the largest hotel, because the additional rooms they count are co owned by Turnberry and even though they are on the same property, they are not connected, do not have a casino, therefore, we do not consider it part of the MGM Grand Casino hotel."

Under construction in Dubai is the Asia Asia Hotel to be cmpleted by 2010, with 6,500 rooms.

Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville is largest hotel in the 48 states outside of vegas it has 2881 rooms, one more than Disney's Pop Century Resort in Orlando which has 2880.

Waldorf-Astoria was the biggest in New York with 1852 rooms, not sure if this is still the case though

regent palace was the largest in london with 1150 rooms but closed in 2006, Hotel Rossiya was the largest in Russia with 3200 rooms but also closed in 2006

The largest hotel in London is the 1,630-room Royal National Hotel in the borough of Bloomsbury.

The largest hotel in Chicago is the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Chicago with over 2,000 rooms. Vapour already gave us the largest hotel in Tokyo, and I'm not sure about the largest hotels in Madrid and Rio de Janeiro.

maybe one of the reason why the price of accommodation in vegas is not as high as other top tourist destination. The last time I went there back in Aug 2006 i got a room for only $50/night at the Golden Nugget

I guess sometime since 1959, after the last major addition which brought the number of rooms then to 1600, the hotel has done something with those 200ish rooms. Mysteries abound! :colgate:

I don't think Australia has any hotels larger than 600 rooms. Sydney has a 630-room Sheraton Hotel that is the largest in that city and Australia. Why do Australia's hotels have to be so small?

#26 ·
Why do all those other hotels have to be so insanely huge!! Although there is a new hotel currently under construction at Crown Casino in Melbourne which will become the biggest in Australia with 658 rooms, but then Novotel Darling Harbour is apparentely planning an expansion that will take it up to 757 rooms, bringing the title back to Sydney.

Crown set to become Australia's largest hotel
Novotel to be Australia's largest hotel!

I don't quote my own posts in this forum (or any forum), but there is another hotel under construction which is expected to eclipse the Swissotel Stamford Hotel. It is the 2,600-room Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Casino. It is expected to open in 2010.
