Dehradun Cityscapes

Hi all,

I belong to Dehradun, and while we may be under the radar compared to the big cities, we are a very big center of education and research. Over the years it has transformed from a peaceful town of retired armymen and known for its schools into a bustling, crowded capital of the state of Uttarakhand.

While Dehradun has become bigger, more concrete-ised, less green, it still manages to retain some of its old world charm.

Let me start by posting pictures of the Forest Research Institute, now a university. I made trip a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, I was unable to take the panoramic pictures of the main building, but hopefully I will soon.

Dude, is this building seriously in Dehradun? Looks like some british castle. Super nice brick exposed architecture complimented by well maintained landscaping. I was stunned to see this corridor. Last time I got stunned on a corridor, was 10 years ago when I viewed Rameshwaram temple corridor.

Yeah, this building's in Dehradun alright! It was built in 1906 I think, and is a mix of a couple of architecture styles. But yes, this is the best brick building I have probably ever seen, and one of the best maintained ones, as you can probably tell from the photos.

Its a university now, so it is still heavily used, and houses museums, labs, classrooms and offices of the university administration.

Nice, expecting cityscape picture soon Kronik

Meanwhile it would be better if you resize the images to atleast 1024 x 728 which is a best fit for a 17 inch monitor. Otherwise it would not be possible to enjoy the picture in its fullness.
