If i'm not mistaken, maswings is hardly making money, it is more to CSR by MAS to connect the people. I believe if the business opportunity is there, these airlines must already embark on the routes.

Am sure there are some routes (eg MYY-BKI, MYY-BTU, MYY-KCH, etc) that are profitable and OD can try out these ones first ???

Yeah, since KUL-DMK is such a hot route, why not Nok Air come over?

Malindo Air celebrates anniversary with RM0 fares
Posted on March 5, 2015, Thursday
http://www.theborneopost.com/2015/03...#ixzz3TaN0drzS

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s hybrid airline Malindo Air has launched a RM0 base fare promotion, valid for both domestic and international sectors in conjunction with its second anniversary which falls on March 22.

The zero base fares are applicable for destinations departing from klia2 including Bangkok, Bali, Bandung, Jakarta, Singapore, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, it said in a statement yesterday.

The promo is also applicable for domestic flights from Subang Airport to Penang, Langkawi, Kota Baharu, Johor Baharu, Alor Setar, Kuala Terengganu and all other routes from major airports in the peninsular.

Under this promo, only airport tax and fees are chargeable.

The promotion is valid until March 22, 2015 for the travel period from now until Oct 22, 2015.

“We have come a long way from operating only two Boeing 737s for the Kota Kinabalu and Kuching sectors in March 2013, to a mixed fleet now of nineteen aircraft, comprising Boeing 737 jets and ATR turboprop aircraft,” said chief executive officer, Chandran Rama Muthy.

The airline launched three new sectors last month, namely, three times weekly flights between Ipoh and Kota Baharu, four times weekly flights between Johor Baharu and Kerteh and three times weekly flights to Vishakapatnam, India. — Bernama

I thought DCA denied that rumour about Malindo?

Quote:
He was commenting on a message being widely circulated via WhatsApp which alleged that the DCA would not extend Malindo Air's AOC as it found 90 offences in the airline's flight operations management, aircraft maintenance, engineering, pilots' licences and safety.

However, DCA director-general Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman yesterday denied the allegations circulated on social media and instead said that the DCA was satisfied with several improvement efforts undertaken by the airline which had applied to extend the AOC after its expiry on Aug 31.

Liow said the audit undertaken by the DCA on Malindo Air was a normal procedure for every airline to ensure safety of aircraft operations for passengers.

"The DCA is a department that monitors safety and airline companies' development... needs to be strict in terms of SOP requirements," he said.

At first government servants do their job. List all the law-breaking incidences. But once someone heard that action would be taken, they exert their muscle and urge / persuade / beg for another chance.

Just look at the Auditor General's Report year after year. Accidentally procured some stuff at higher price, what's wrong about it.

FYI guys back in 2014 AirAsia has been slapped with 6-months AOC renewal too but it never made it to the media like what Malindo is going through now.

It's just certain boxes that were left unticked during the audit. All airlines in Malaysia went through the same thing.

Flew to KL and back on Malindo.

Really surprised by how full the flights were in both classes return. Love the gate-to-gate IFE. New plane smell gave me a headache, but I'm good.
