I was at Uptown. Some observation as I by-pass The Starling development.

The Starling Mall looks very nice. Visually, its a mixture of metallic silver panel, glass and wood that makes the facade or the front appearance of the mall. They have a somewhat high ceiling entrance, with trees, greens, plants all around). Seems like its coming along very nice, from the outside anyway. There are still some construction going on but seems like they can open any time soon. Probably looking at an early December opening to take advantage of the holiday sales.

The surrounding upgrades makes the place (Uptown) very nice, very walkable. There's a dedicated cycling path along The Starling development. There's even an escalator from outside (nearby the shoplots) going underground towards (1) an exit entrance just outside of the mall (by-pass the road/ traffic), and (2) probably connect to the mall's LG / Basement floor.

Just wondering if extreme heavy rain will cause the place (escalator) to flood. On top of that, all the drains seems to be shut as a result of the upgrading to the surrounding area. Well, pretty sure their engineers have thought of a solution.

I foresee bad, bad traffic in the area. Even with the signage of NO DOUBLE PARKING visible at the area, there are still many, many people that double park. It is very bad, and will only get worse when the mall open.

Expect the mall will give other nearby malls (Atria, Tropicana, Glo Damansara etc) some tough competition. And to some extend 1U and The Curve.

I had a walk around last week to see progress. The top floors are almost complete and the mall itself was actually quite busy for mid Afternoon on a weekday. The new year decorations were also quite nice and parking was cheap (3.5 hours for RM2)
