monthly wage for labourers in state factories is app. 5000 KPW, official rate is 1 USD = 142.450 KPW, black market app 1 USD = 3300 KPW. Even if they can buy a car, they cannot surely afford it.

Gyus, you absolutely do not realize what does it mean - to live in socialistic society. Of course, they use money to buy goods, but money per se mean nothing. Every single person can get only what he allowed (if it exits, of course), and much more than money your status and connections are important. Even if you're allowed to buy a car you gave to succeed to get it. In USSR average worker easy could collect money for a car, but there was no car he could just come and buy. He put his name in waiting list and waited for several years. And it was in Russia, producing about 1 mio. automobiles per year!

What about North Korea, actually there is no passenger car industry. They produce some handycraft limous (mostly - old Mersedes clones) for leaders, and that's all. They import nothing, so there just is no cars average north korean can buy.

I'm making some small analysis of North Korea's road system. It's not easy to answer, why did they build all that vast network of amazing motorways, but it seems that not for riding

^ Believe me, I know what it means to live in a socialist society, I lived in one 17 years ago. In the world's richest socialist country, but still, my statements hold.

We might have North Koreans posting here, but not from N. Korea, as the Internet is prohibited there.

Who said they want?
Modern, educated society can't be controlled so easily as they're doing it now.
Imagine North Koreans surfing the net and finding out what a country they really live in...

People in North Korea don't know better than that the world is the same as in the time the Koreas separated.

Give people acces to internet and things change rapidly, look at China for instance.

I saw a doc on national geographic, where they got this doctor to go there to teach some of the north korean doctors how to do this eye surgury so people could see again. So they got into the country because they said it was to film the eye surgury part. and when all the people had their bangages removed and saw for the first time in years. They all said thanks to their great leader and that he cured them, and they were gonna repay him by killing americans.
