Hubli Dharwad doubling is part of HPT-VSG freight corridor and already Doubling work started from Hubli side ( RoB @ Desai Cross widening started )

After doubling between Hubli-Dharwad they might close down Unkal Station and have big plans for Amargol as it lies near Navanagar and APMC between twincities.

Hubli is having luxury of not having Goods trains... But it will still have goods train running on Miraj-Bengaluru route...

I think this additional bypass line, is an unnecessary expense...

I think you are unaware number goods rakes passing via Hubli

1. Jindal Torangallu/ BMM Hospet/ Kirloskars at Munirabad n other steel industries ....coal imported from Vasco , finished steel products to Vasco for export.

2.Bellary ...BTPS for coal

3. Koppal for Maize n Rice

4.Bannikoppa for Granite blocks

5.Hubli for Agro products

6. Dandeli West coast paper mill

7. Belgaum for Sugar n Petroleum

8.Bijapur ..Kudgi Thermal plant for coal

9.ACC plant at Ginigera n Bellary

to name few ....all utilize Hubli Dharwad line and approx 30-40 rakes passes on daily basis.

Moreover there is no space at Hubli stn yard becos of passenger trains they have to wait for hours to move out of Hubli.

This Byepass line was proposed decade ago now its been sanctioned.

Hubli Byepass line is constructed to avoid goods trains entering Hubli Railway station as there is no space to have additional lines and century old carriage workshop lies adjacent to Hubli station.

I understand what you are trying to say...

I am aware of it and what is easily forgotten is - most of these goods trains pass also via cities like Dharwad, Gadag stations etc....

But Why only for one city??? I know Hubli is more crowded, that is not the answer I am expecting...

INTRODUCTION OF TRAIN NOs. 11031/11032 SOLAPUR-BIJAPUR-SOLAPUR BI-WEEKLY EXPRESS WITH EFFECT FROM 04TH JULY, 2015

South Western Railway is pleased to announce to introduce a Bi-Weekly Express Trainbetween Solapur-Bijapur-Solapurstations (Train Nos. 11031/11032), with effect from 04th July, 2015 from both ends.

Accordingly, Train No.11031 Solapur-Bijapur Bi-Weekly Express will depart at SOLAPUR at 10-05 hrs., on Saturday and Sundays, with effect from 04th July, 2015 and arrive at BIJAPURstation at 12-20 hrs. on the same days.

En route, the Bi-Weekly Express will arrive/depart at Hotgi at 10-28/10-30 hrs.; Indi Road at 11-04/11-05 hrs. and arrive/depart at Nimbal at 11-16/11-17 hrs.

In the return direction, Train No.11032 Bijapur-SolapurBi-Weekly Express will depart at BIJAPUR on Saturday and Sundays at 14-50 hrs., with effect from 04th July, 2015 and arrive at SOLAPURstation at 17-40 hrs. on the same days.

En route, the Bi-Weekly Express will arrive/depart at Nimbal at 15-25/15-26 hrs; Indi Road at 15-44/15-45 hrs. and arrive/depart at Hotgi at 17-23/17-25 hrs.

The B-Weekly Express will havetotal 12 coaches, consisting of One First Class AC-cum-2-tier AC coach, Two AC 3-tier coaches, Four Second Class Sleeper coaches, Three General Second Class coaches and Two Second Class luggage cum-brake van-cum Disabled coaches.

Going through the timetable, one can see that it is a good link train to Mumbai from Bijapur as it connects Chennai-Mumbai Mail at Solapur and Vice versa - Mumbai -Solapur -Bijapur with Chennai mail combination. It makes good for the absence of Bijapur-Bandra Fast passenger on Saturdays and Sundays

What is surprising to me is the extra lavish coach composition for a bi-weekly train that is running for only 2:15 hrs for a distance of just 109 kms, and that too between two relatively obscure stations

Anybody can fathom the reason for this composition as above? Are there any other train(s) having similar kind of weird coach composition?

Something is better than nothing. Rather than idling the rakes at Solapur for 10 hours, it is better that the zonal manager has decided to run this train.

That this new train will run on weekends is a good news as weekend rush is always an universal phenomenon across the country. The timings also suit passengers from Bijapur to catch other long distance trains at Hotgi/Solapur.

Possibly, this is the first new (regular) train to be announced after Suresh Prabhu had indicated in the budget that the zonal GMs would be given powers to run new/spl trains based on demand and availability of rakes.

That way, congratulate the CR/SWR zones for taking the initiative and using the opportunity

Since zonal GMs have been given powers to run new/spl trains based on demand and availability of rakes, why cant SCR/SWR GM's extend 12785/12786 Secunderabad - Bangalore City Express to Mysore since it is idling from 6.25 to 18.20 occuping PF2 at SBC for 12 hours!
