Starting from 2020, what is claimed to be worlds first autonomous ship is planned to be put in service between the Yara factory at Herøya and the ports of Larvik and Breivik, all in Norway. The ship will be electric. The ship is expected to be delivered from the wharf and be put through early testing next year. It replaces approximately 40.000 yearly trips which trucks that covers this stretch today.

This is absolutely great, but how will this autonomous mooring work?

Despite being modern-minded guy, I'm afraid of autonomy on merchant and tourism vessels. I mean... containers being loaded, portainers and transtainers working, vessel moored, sailing, navigation, berthing, unloading... all of this without NO ONE ON BOARD?????

I wish I could come to Recife one day but unfortunately my ship does not call any ports and the closest one to me is 150 Nm away from Rio de Janeiro
