At first they have to buy out all the owners of houses and flats in the Baishizhou urban village - this will be a long and complicated process because lots of home owners will try to "gamble" and drive up prices. After that the village has to be razed (well, that should be done in a few month after all people have moved out) and then the construction of several supertalls (and perhaps megatalls) will take another 3-7 years at least. So don't expect anything in the near term

You can find a few new renders and details about baishizhou redevelopment in this blogentry.
Edit: The pictures come from the website of Urbanus, a local architecture office and it seems like they are from 2013. They are interesting nevertheless.

Lvgem won't be able to take on this mind boggling project on its own. Vanke has already joined into the consortium, China Resources is said to follow soon as well. They estimate the cost of the whole thing, including land acqusitions to exceed 100 billion yuan.

This is good news, I always thought that this project seems unrealistic to be financed and organized by only one developer. Lets hope that the hights will remain the same and won't be effected by the Airport....

Probably not for at least another year or two. These urban village redevelopments always take way longer than planned because there are so many individual plot owners to deal with.

Someone recently signed a 5 year lease on one of the warehouses in the area. They said the landlord's contract guaranteed that they will not be told to move out during the contract period. IF they do get forced to move, the landlord will compensate them the sum of all the rent for the remainder of the contract. So the owner seems pretty confident nothing will happen for 4-5 years

It's a large area though, it will have to be developed in phases anyway.

Yup! They really should build oceans of 200-350m residential towers.

Shenzhen has already completed a residential supertall though.
