Life in Kenya

Hello everybody,

I was wondering how big is the tourism industry in Kenya? I'm currently wanting to travel and live abroad for some time, months, maybe even a year, and I want to try Africa. I speak english very well but accented (im hungarian) and ive a degree in tourism and catering. Would you recommend trying Kenya or does this sound like a crazy idea? I've never been to Africa before, and I dont know much about it, but I love nature and the safari experience sounds very exciting.

Bye bye.

Tourism is booming in kenya and we have options either a peaceful game drive in the mara, grueling mountain climbing in Mt,Kenya, swimming and relaxing or either deep sea fishing at the kenyan coast, or head up north and try camel racing at the yearly derby's, or have a nice peaceful walk in the rain forests of western kenya... Kenya has a lot of tourists options so come live and enjoy them you won't regret it....

Your degree can get you a manager position at any leading international hotel in kenya or you can start your own hotel and be the boss....

The tourism industry is quite robust. Do you already have companies you are targeting?

Great idea, there're several guest houses in Kenya, am sure you would consider staying and investing if you visited.

The tourist industry in Kenya is extremely diverse.

Business hotels, beach resorts, safari lodges, country clubs, golf resorts... there are many different fields of tourism in Kenya.

@adam That for the review, I really really really like the sound of that. I graduated a few years ago, I don't have that much experience yet. I don't have any illusions of getting such a high position haha. So any job would do really, im not interested only in the $$

@Malaika Not really, I'm still searching. I could work anywhere really, a hotel, a resort, club. It doesn't matter to me.

@Mintali Yeah who knows, maybe I fall in love with the place and end up staying. Kenya sounds a relaxing place and I need a break from my busy lifestyle.

@SE9 Im wondering, how much would buying a house like that cost hmmmm....hahaha.

@jogoo Thanks for the link, very helpful. Looks very beautiful.

Since you have never been to Africa before my advice to you would be to come and visit the country first before you make any life changing decisions. Kenya (and Africa) is quite different from Europe so you need to familiarize yourself with the country before you decide to move here. Tourism is big in Kenya so with your skills you should be able to find something to do. Generally, Kenyan's are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet and many tourists will tell you that. Plan a trip first then decide if this is a place that you would like to live.
