MALAPPURAM: One of the dream projects of the government, the Vengalam-Vallarpadam container corridor is likely to be delayed as protests have already begun against the proposed Ponnani-Vengalam coastal highway, which is part of the corridor.

In a movement against the existing alignment of the coastal highway, the NH action council of Ponnani has demanded re-routing of the proposed coastal highway through Padinharekkara.

Chief minister Ommen Chandy will be inaugurating the work of the coastal highway next week. But the public action council has decided to initiate protests,

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the railway overbridge, constructed by the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation (RBDC), at Koyilandy on Saturday.

The 1,200-metre overbridge surpasses the two railway gates, one on the Koyilandy- Balussery- Thamarasseri road and another on the Muthambi- Arikkulam- Oorallur- Keezhariyur- Perambra road, which were causing many traffic jams in Koyilandy town for years.

The bridge was built at a cost of Rs.18.12 crore and has 30 spans including the railway span, which was constructed by Railways itself. The cost of construction was equally shared by the Railways and the RBDC.

The bridge has a ‘T’ shape diversion to the Thamarasseri road and Muthambi road. The solar information and warning boards are being experimented in the State for the first time on the bridge.

Minister for PWD V.K. Ebrahim Kunju will preside over the inauguration.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran, Minister for Social Welfare and Panchayats M.K. Muneer, former ministers P. Shankaran, M.T. Padma, and P.K.K. Bava, will participate.

If the same interlock system can work for these many years in the much heavier traffic of CHURAM road haipins ( 9th ) , then this should also be good for many years . provided the quality of work is same...

DMRC proposed New alignment and design for Panniyankara ROB

The old L shaped design has given way to a new T shaped one, hope it wont be a narrow one like quilandy ROB.

the cost has doubled because of this to 80 Cr.

കോഴിക്കോട്: പന്നിയങ്കര മേല്*പാല നിര്*മാണത്തിനായി പുതിയ രൂപരേഖ തയാറായി. ഇതോടെ മേല്*പാല നിര്*മാണത്തിന് കൂടുതല്* സ്ഥലം ഏറ്റെടുക്കേണ്ടി വരും. മേല്*പാലത്തിന്*െറ നിര്*മാണ ചുമതലയുള്ള ദല്*ഹി മെട്രോ റെയില്* കോര്*പറേഷനാണ് (ഡി.എം.ആര്*.സി) പുതിയ രൂപരേഖ തയാറാക്കിയത്. കോഴിക്കോട് പുതുതായി വരുന്ന മോണോ റെയിലിനോട് ബന്ധപ്പെടുത്തി മേല്*പാലം നിര്*മിക്കുന്നതിനാലാണ് രൂപരേഖയില്* മാറ്റം വരുത്തേണ്ടി വന്നത്. സ്ഥലമേറ്റെടുക്കലിനായി പൊതുമരാമത്ത് വകുപ്പും റവന്യൂ വകുപ്പും സംയുക്ത പരിശോധന നടത്തി. ഇതിന്*െറ റിപ്പോര്*ട്ട് ഉന്നതാധികാര സമിതിക്ക് സമര്*പ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. രണ്ടാഴ്ചക്കകം ചേരുന്ന ഉന്നതാധികാര സമിതി യോഗത്തില്* പുതിയ രൂപരേഖക്കും സ്ഥലമേറ്റെടുക്കലിനും അംഗീകാരം ലഭിക്കുമെന്നാണറിയുന്നത്.
പന്നിയങ്കര പൊലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷന്* ജങ്ഷനിലാണ് പുതിയ രൂപരേഖാ പ്രകാരം സ്ഥലമേറ്റെടുക്കേണ്ടി വരുക. ‘L’ മാതൃകയിലായിരുന്നു മേല്*പ്പാലത്തിന്*െറ ആദ്യത്തെ രൂപരേഖ. പുതിയത് ‘T’ മാതൃകയിലാണ് . കല്ലായി റെയില്*വെ സ്റ്റേഷനു മുന്നില്*നിന്ന് ആരംഭിച്ച് റെയില്*വേ ഗേറ്റിനു സമീപം അവസാനിക്കുന്ന രീതിയിലായിരുന്നുആദ്യം നിര്*മിക്കാന്* തീരുമാനിച്ചത്. പുതിയത് പ്രകാരം പന്നിയങ്കര പൊലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷന്* ജങ്ഷനിലാണ് മേല്*പാലം അവസാനിക്കുക. രൂപരേഖ മാറിയതോടെ പാലത്തിന്*െറ നിര്*മാണ ചെലവ് ഇരട്ടിയായി. 80 കോടിയോളം രൂപയാണ് പുതിയ രൂപരേഖ പ്രകാരം ചെലവ്. നേരത്തെ 40 കോടി രൂപയായിരുന്നു മേല്*പാല നിര്*മാണത്തിനായി അനുവദിച്ചത്. ഇതില്* സ്ഥലമേറ്റെടുക്കലിന്*െറ ആദ്യഘട്ടത്തിന് മൂന്ന് കോടി രൂപയും ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. പുതുതായി സ്ഥമേറ്റെടുക്കാന്* 25 കോടിയോളം രൂപ വേണ്ടി വരും.
അതിനിടെ നേരത്തേ സ്ഥലമേറ്റെടുക്കാനായി അനുവദിച്ച അഞ്ച് കോടിയില്* ബാക്കിയുള്ള രണ്ട് കോടി ഈയാഴ്ച ലഭിച്ചേക്കും. ഈ തുക ലഭിച്ചാല്* രണ്ടാം ഘട്ട സ്ഥലമേറ്റെടുക്കല്* നടപടികള്* ആരംഭിക്കാനാകും.
വ്യാപാരികള്*ക്ക് സ്പെഷല്* പാക്കേജ് പ്രകാരം നല്*കുമെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ തുകയും ഇതില്*നിന്നും നല്*കാമെന്നാണ് പ്രതീക്ഷ. നേരത്തെ കല്ലായി റെയില്*വേ സ്റ്റേഷനു കിഴക്കുവശത്തുള്ള 78 കടകള്* ഒഴിപ്പിച്ച് റവന്യൂ വകുപ്പ് സ്ഥലമേറ്റെടുത്തിരുന്നു.
