Care in old age: we won’t pay, the State can’t

The gap between the equity rich and the renters is wide and growing. Once on the wrong side of the divide, it is difficult to return. We want our children to be on the right side.

-What?!?! I rent because I can't afford to buy- simple as. I work full time and after I've paid out rent, travel, living costs and food I don't have anything left to save anything near the 40k you need to put down a deposit.

Homeowners see their assets double in value over 10 years- not through 'hard work and scrimping'- instead through just sitting on a property.

The property system looks after you, as you watch the value grow, and keeps people like me off the property ladder with ever increasing prices.

Instead I pay off other peoples' mortgages through private renting.

And I'm berated for making no sacrifices. I wish I had a house in the first instance! You don't know how lucky you are.
