With the NSW Government pre-committing 62,000 square metres within Tower 4, it is the first of the four towers to commence construction.

Completion scheduled for late 2019.

4 Parramatta Square will accommodate government employees from the Department of Planning and Environment,
Department of Finance, Services and Innovation and Department of Industry in the largest ever government agency leasing commitment.

Tower 4 will be tallest commercial building outside of Sydney CBD and the largest in the Parramatta Square precinct,
pending approval of Towers 6 and 8.
==============================================

Tower 8 will be one of four towers in the Parramatta Square development and will adjoin the 31 storey Tower 6 building, creating a combined net lettable area of 125,000 square metres.

These two new buildings will add to the 120,000 square metres of commercial space being delivered in 2019 and 2020, bringing the total
development to 245,000 square metres of A Grade commercial floor space, which on completion will house up to 23,500 employees.

With the major infrastructure and civil works well underway, construction of Towers 6 and 8 will commence early next year, with completion scheduled for 2021.

So tower 4 late 2019

Tower 6 & 8 full completion 2021

With work proceeding rapidly, pedestrian access to Darcy St between the Western Concourse and Smith Street will close tomorrow, Monday

The western end of Darcy Street from the Western Concourse to Church Street will close early next year.

I'm really impressed with the pace of work on this huge site!

Headaches at the last hurdle for $2 billion Parramatta Square push

The City of Parramatta Council is inching closer to the realisation of plans for the $2.4 billion Parramatta Square development, but not before a contentious late push divides the council.

A division has sprung up among councillors about the level of compensation agreed with developer Lang Walker over the right to build a 240-metre tower.

It's an embarrassingly pathetic attempt of newby councillor/s to 'establish' their presence.

What they have established is their inadequacy to the role of councillor on a major council such as Parramatta where the old parochial town approach must give way to the new major city centre that is Parramatta today.

Ben Barrak is corrupt. He got onto the council for his own property development interests. Specifically, he is the owner of a building in Wigram Street and has has been refused a DA for an awful 8 floor apartment building. He is currently suing the council of which he is an elected member. He is our own Salim Mehijar. Shame on the Liberals.

I assume this 30% reduction in size is comparing the original design to the redesign from months ago? There is no chance of the commission bending the shadow rule as far as I can tell.

Parramatta civic building forced to down size

Parramatta Council will ask the Greater Sydney Commission to relax its stringent rules preventing overshadowing around Parramatta Square, to allow its plans for a futuristic new civic building to proceed.
The seven storey building will include a state-of-the-art library, council chambers, council offices, council services and meeting rooms for the public to lease out and cost about $89.5 million to build.
But the design may need to be redrawn to preserve sunlight in the square.
Under existing plans, the building may plunge parts of Parramatta Square into shadow between noon and 2pm during winter.

It complies with a council rule that allows shadows over the square in the middle of the day as long as they passed within 45 minutes.
But the design does not meet stricter standards introduced by the commission, not permitting any shadow.
Liberal councillor Steven Issa said if the council did not receive an exemption from the rules, the building would have to be downsized by 30 per cent.
“This is the only publicly owned building in the Parramatta Square area and these height restrictions will knock off two storeys from the building, which will mean that some services just won’t be possible,” he said.

The 4 and 6 building duo dubbed the Twin Towers in Parramatta square are not restricted by the GSC rules

The 54 storey 8 Parramatta square (Aspire) building will be privately owned, with council only retaining ownership of the town hall.
Cr Issa said parts of the library and front-of-house area would be sacrificed under a new design, meaning residents looking to pay a bill or get information may need to go elsewhere.
“This decision was made by someone who doesn’t eat, sleep and breathe Parramatta,” Cr Issa said. “I think Lucy Turnbull should come and talk to us rather than dictate what needs to be chopped.”
In a statement, Mrs Turnbull said the decision was made to “protect sunlight”.
“We must ensure the highest standards for Parramatta’s public places,” she said.

In the middle of yet another cover up-protect your skin-be aware of cancer campaign those who should know better are enforcing greater exposure to unprotected blazing sun zones?
