true but its not that bad, its not falling apart thankfully

nane maryam church, the second oldest church in the world !

the building as it stands is not ancient but the base and platform belong to the ancient church

sadly the newer building is obviously a modern addition, its actually nice and very clean but I wish they made it match the older building or try to render older style churches to show its ancient soul
but very nice, a symbol of artisitic and engineering diversity in iran
if you look at the photo it looks like a small town in northern italy or germany
but its actually in the middle of a semi medditerreanian bacheh mosalmoon country!

The biggest problem with Iranian people is that they don't know just how great their country can be.

I think I have been in that church or it was another one in the same area from the 3th century or something like that. They were renovating it, god it was beautiful. I just wish they did the same with other places in Iran to truly bring out the beauty of this country

The church above is an Assyrian church. I can read the writings on the tombstones.
By the way, my late father, before leaving my beautiful Iran, went to Ormieh and its suburban villages and took pictures of all their churches. There are over 110 chuches in that area. Some of them have been declared national historical sites and can not be touched without governments permission.
