Can you imagine this new skyline at night with the lighting? And with the addition of Riverwalk, the Lafayete buildings and AER!! Tampa is gonna be bananas

Just curious...could any of you guys who have the software create a future skyline using the picture SSP released, but add Riverwalk Place and Lafayette Place?

I don't think Lafayette Place would be visible from this viewpoint, but Riverwalk Place would make this picture look even more fantastic.

Hyatt Centric would fill in a bit of that gap between Regions and Bank of America.

That gap frustrates me.. Was the Bank of America parking garage designed to support a structure above?

It used to be shorter. About 15 years or so ago they added multiple levels to it. I'd be surprised if it was designed to be built on top of. I'm sure someone out there can figure out how to build over it though.

if that's drawn to scale, the USF building, starting next month, should be about the same height as the Towers of Channelside. In the close up renderings it looks just a hair above the Marriott Waterside. Would be at least 300 feet!

no, perspective in these drawings. USF is definitely shorter than the towers.

So, this is a random question, but I had a friend who went to the Florida Aquarium and said it was nice, but they were a bit disappointed. Of course, they made the comparison to the Georgia Aquarium, which is one of the largest in the world (not exactly a fair comparison). Anyways, I was wondering if there were any talks of perhaps expanding the facility in the current parking lot north of the shell? The reason why I put it in this thread is I was wondering, with all of Vinik's investors, if an expansion of the aquarium could added to his plan. I would think it would only add to the neighborhood (making it a "world-class" aquarium).

I completely agree. It's small even for Tampa now.

IIRC, in talks of expanding the clearwater aquarium, there was skepticism as to how it would perform and some numbers suggested that the Florida Aquarium has underachieved attendance wise.

A large expansion is definitely needed for the aquarium. But I think that's something that would need be negotiated with the Port Authority and their plans of redevelopment than Vinik.

Vinik with MOSI will be a handful once it starts going. I still wish that they include more natural sciences into the museum but I'll be fine with the product they offer now being the same, just updated.

I'd say that's because it isn't exactly a must see attraction. If it had more to boast about I think that would change.

Channelside Bay Plaza restaurants close in prep for demolition

Restaurants in the southwest wing of Channelside Bay Plaza are shuttering as Strategic Property Partners preps to demolish that portion of the beleaguered waterfront mall.

Hablo Taco, a Tex-Mex restaurant by Guy Revelle that opened with great fanfare in early 2015, will close at the end of August. Thai Tani closed at the end of July.

Looks like there's a portal entry for the first tower. Address is 615 South Morgan Street. Entry is empty for now. This would be the lot for the convention center hotel.

I'm betting this is the first because of the Superbowl coming to Tampa in January 2021. I'm thinking Tampa's 5 star hotel finally is coming to fruition.

Ritz Carlton?
