Maybe the Cass St. work is making it be more of a late summer construction start?

I contacted them. We'll see if I get a response.

Any New Info on the Grant Block Groundbreaking?

Hi.

Does anyone have any news as to when the ground breaking will be for the Grant Block in Tampa, FL?

No news on ground breaking. I've emailed the developer multiple times and have never gotten a response.

The project is still active though.

These were given on May 20th to the city. They are the 60% design progress report:

They are actually posted on 115 Ashley's page as an example to that developer of what 30-60-90 reports are.

Also, the city told Carter on 7/13 that their proposed changes were not substantial.

I like how they don't show the SE view, and on the NE view, they make sure the text covers up the shitty streetscaping across from the Floridan Palace.

The SE view will look pretty close to the NW view

Franklin Street is the walk-able area and the primary focus for this property, I will take that.

No one is going to walk on Florida with the zoom of cars until something is done like 2 way conversion.

That's right. Just like no one walks on Tampa street. Certainly, no one will walk if you make a dead zone.

Florida and Tampa are the likely route for the streetcar, so generally a bad idea to ignore florida ...

^ Do you mean single track going one way on each? If so, that would be a really bad idea.

^ Less bidirectional access.

Let's say three squares is the equivalent of walking distance. If you have a setup like we do with Tampa and Florida, only the dark blue squares can board a streetcar traveling in either direction. If you double-track along a single ROW (be it Franklin or otherwise), all of the blue squares - light and dark - can access a car going north or south.

Usually what happens is we use some generic term like transit access, which would include all of the blue squares and darker gray squares. But that's silly, because who expects someone to ride around in a circle for half an hour, or board a train for a few blocks, get off and wait for a transfer to one that's traveling in the direction they actually want to go?

I get that argument when they are far away from each other (like the one directional loops in many cities), but in Tampa & Florida they are two blocks further away and provide significant cost & speed savings. An extra block or two is nothing if the streetcar is forced to stop as the buses on Marion are.

Is it Morgan that has the bus lines only during the day? Run the rail lines up and down that street. Electric bus' can use same overhead lines for power.

Marion, and it's generally considered the other option. But then the buses will honestly slow the streetcar down.

I just returned from San Francisco and they have a trolly line on Market street. This photo shows how it works. You can see the bus using the overhead lines for power too. The rails run down the middle of the street and are used by buses, cars, taxis, etc. My hotel was two blocks from this intersection on Powell and Market. The Cable car line is right there too.
