The concrete for the foundation of a new apartment tower is almost in the ground but Harbour Island residents are still not ready to end their long and so-far unsuccessful fight against the project

We already have our foundation permit in hand and we’re about ready to start construction.
Looks like it will get built whether the city gets sued or not.

On one hand, it is awesome to live in and be associated with a city and region that is on the cusps of becoming great, and then on the other hand, is a disgrace to be associated with this type of contempt against modernization and urbanization.

This lawsuit doesn't seem designed to actually stop the project. Seems designed more to get damages from the city.

It also smells of opportunistic lawyers advertising false hope of killing the project hitting up a relatively large and wealthy group of people for more business. Not something actually being initiated by the residents at this point.

We all know the residents real concern is the view they're losing. The parking and permit complaints are frivolous.

The project shouldn't be affected by this.

Quote:
City Attorney Julia Mandell said she cannot comment on pending litigation but said there is nothing in the lawsuit that would stop construction from going forward.
These residents are the worst though. I'm kinda glad they're losing their view at this point.

A little zoom out and we get both properties in 500 HI and the Manor in one view -- easier to tell which residents are probably in the lawsuit now...

Yeah the balconies that will look literally straight into a wall lol

That was poor design on the Plaza's part. They had blanked out the base to anticipate something being built but didn't bother to angle the actual units.

That's hilarious to me that they got sued to try and nullify the construction permit, and they respond by almost instantly starting construction, even though there's still a building on the site.
