I haven't been to the beach myself in a month. Sort of letting some of the work get finished and the weather has been on the cool side.

I will take some pics the next chance I get....the Pier 60 was a real mess not long ago.

Last time I was in Clearwater was Dec. 2014. About time to return. Miss the Tampa Bay Area terribly.

Big blue tower crane is up for the new hospital building south of Downtown. Also tower cranes on CW Beach for the 10 story Guesthouse and what I think is Springhill behind the Hyatt.

Went to CWB this weekend, the cranes are up and the place is busy. The new Marina remodel is looking great too.

Looking forward to post spring break and this summer to really enjoy it.

Publix is rebuilding their CW Beach store. Structured parking under the store.

The Nolen posted an update.

This project is awesome and hopefully will be the first step to revitalize Downtown Clearwater.

Tampa Bay Business Journal

A boutique condominium development in Clearwater is expected to attract a mix of local residents and second home buyers.

Ascentia Development Group, based in Sarasota, is launching a sales campaign for Elan Island Estates, with plans to break ground in fall 2016. It will be built on the waterfront at 415 Island Way, which is currently a surface parking lot.

Elan will include 44 units in four stories, with units ranging in size from 1,500 to 2,700 square feet, priced from the mid $500,000s to more than $1 million.

Not much to look at considering the pedigree behind it IMO:

I saw this in the CRA meeting, they had so much unexpected work prepping the land that was basically full if peet that the city thought it was far to compensate them.

This project was slow going but seems to be catching up, have to do a drive soon.

CLEARWATER BEACH (FOX 13) - After deciding the current building wasn't up to their standards, owners of Crabby Bills in Clearwater Beach decided to close for demolition and rebuilding May 15.

The decision came after the City of Clearwater approved the restaurant to fulfill a 30 year lease. The process led developers to the decision to temporarily close for a full re-do of the restaurant. It will reopen in March 2017.

Although developers Moises and Cleman Agami decline to disclose their total investment in the project, Paulette Agami, design manager and spokeswoman, says they want to bring "a fresh, contemporary and chic architectural landmark" to Clearwater that features "an air of high design and clean lines."

"That’s precisely what was accomplished," she says. "When potential buyers or visitors walk into The SkyView showroom, there are, without fail, remarks about the good taste that we have brought downtown."

The downtown Walgreens is coming together, much further than this post.

There is a cam on site behind their signage since this started construction but no evidence of it being shared with the public.

It appears there is a 'liquor store sized spaced' separated from the main store with it's own entrance, is this possible to be a liquor store for a Walgreens?

#EDIT, this will have a liquor store.

So this place opened up on Cleveland Street just outside of the core downtown near Myrtle. We went late for coffee and dessert, it was really beautiful inside. Still a little slow but not shortage of friendly staff. This place should do very well and it more upscale dining. Great for downtown, should be a nice attraction to those looking to reside at the Nolen apartments.

This is going much slower than I had expected, there were some soil issues and city issues bogging things down, literally.

This may be mostly wood framing but there is a good amount of concrete in the retail areas at least.

This is long overdue and what downtown needs more of asap. It will fill up quickly and certainly bring some developers attention to the downtown core currently boasting many large vacant lots.

Not the big news we see happening in downtown Saint Petersburg or Tampa but certainly some new life along a longtime dead area of the city.

Living nearby, I am certain that Clearwater will have its day and the beach just across the harbor is 110% in full swing.

It is only a matter of time before downtown see more diverse and intense development.

I wonder if the Nolen developer didn't think they could rent more units, or the city wouldn't approve more?

All in all it's a nice project for Clearwater, but I agree, I would love to see less surface parking and more units.

Clearwater has so much potential because of its unique setting overlooking the Intracoastal. The setting is even nicer than Sarasota's in my opinion and its a shame that the core is still so underutilzed. I'm not a fan of the cult at all...but it would not keep me out of downtown if there were more nice things to do.
