Just a thought; demolish the Municipal Office Building, turn the vacant space into a park and move the city offices into the future development at the parking lot.

And while we're at it; tear down the current Tampa Police HQ, move them also to the new 'city parking lot' development, so their lot can be redeveloped as well...

Yep, then the historic Courthouse could be reconstructed. What a shame that that precious building was even torn down.

Here's the actual RFP for anyone interested...

Page on city's website for the RFP: http://www.tampagov.net/economic-and...pment/EUD_RFPs

PDF of RFP itself: http://www.tampagov.net/sites/defaul...ll_parking.pdf

Don't remember Cold Storage. Just may have not ever paid any attention to it.

Good luck with that.

Maybe 717 can build their headquarters there. Preserve Buckhorns city parking spaces on two floors and build their offices right above. Wouldn't that be so iconic of Tampa! BARF!

Agreed, would do anything to have that beauty back.

I like the idea of the city taking space in the building and then vacating other crap developments, like the annex building and TPD hq, and letting other developments occur there.

As of Thursday afternoon, no proposals had been received, though it's not unusual for developers to wait until the deadline (which is 4 p.m. Friday) to submit items.

It's an RFP, they won't have to make it public until the mayor decides which one to pick. He picks, then city council approves.

One of the bidders is entirely predictable. (Framework Group)

Three developers bid for prime downtown Tampa city block

The article says there was 4 bidders but the 4th was thrown out because it came in on Friday after the 4PM deadline (someone is getting yelled at).

Good to see so much interest in the lot though. Of course, all the proposals could be garbage.

Here's the developers' portfolios:

Mill Creek:
http://www.millcreekplaces.com/portfolio
^Lots of low and midrises but they do have a 29 story tower U/C right now in Atlanta.

HRI:
http://www.hriproperties.com/portfolio
^All of their highrises were rehabs

Framework:
http://www.frameworkgroupllc.com/development
^You already know them, they have 500 U/C on Harbor Island now.

McDonaugh said the city is aiming to make a decision before Mayor Bob Buckhorn leaves for a trip to China on Sept. 16, pending clarification on questions the city has on the proposals.

Could be an exciting week if they make their choice public by Friday as well!

Just out of curiosity, I wonder what the height limit for that particular block is, perhaps 600'-700'?

I would not expect anything above 36 floors, just a hunch.
