My first thought is that is a good spot for a hotel, especially if the new Rays stadium gets built on the Tampa Park Apartments site. Walking distance.

Shame it isn't as tall as what has been proposed there before but at least it takes away the small maintenance garage shop that sits there. I see the only issue being traffic here and the garage.

Really hope that's not driveway on Kennedy. I would much rather have Kennedy be as uninterrupted as possible.

2k of retail on this size of lot with only two sides fronting the road compares favorably to Fitzgerald, but this is probably only one slip of retail, so either Kennedy or Meridian will have no retail on it from this project.

Kennedy seems like the best option for placement for the entry access, but I understand not wanting an interruption. But considering this is the only project on that side of Kennedy that has an interruption in the pedestrian portion, I'm not going to complain too much.

I'm hoping the retail is on the Meridian side, Meridian needs some street level interaction.

So 10 stories for the hotel portion on the corner and perhaps lower garage section?

Nice addition. Hopefully it draws a lot architecturally from the one they built in Greenville.

^We can dream.

I need to see the elevations. I don't get a very good whiff, but it's hard to say.

From the site plan, it does look there are some similarities...that rounded area in the lower right corner could match the one seen in the picture of the Greenville hotel.

I emailed Liberty earlier asking for a rendering and they said none is available at this time.

They may not be too happy I found it, it's in an address change entry on the portal. Not a real proposal type entry.

A small hotel is very fitting for that corner, and I'm happy that is the use. It will benefit the restaurants and bars greatly. Places start to get popular when you get TripAdvisor and Yelp reviews, not only from locals, but tourists as well. It's a win-win for our little neighborhood.

That being said, I really, really, really wish it wasn't a low tier Hilton branded hotel. A Hyatt Place or Hyatt House would be a much better brand -- a higher level affordable hotel.

My thoughts exactly - especially since there is a Hampton in fairly close proximity in Ybor.

The site plan says "Hampton Inn & Home 2 Suites." I'm not familiar with Home 2 Suites. Anyone?

It is one of Hilton's extended stay brands

For the folks who are confused, Cobranded hotels are increasingly common.

This property won't be one or the other, it will be both. They'll build something like 160 Hampton Inn keys, and 81 Home Suites extended stay keys.

They just completed one in Gainesville a few months back.

It's an extended stay concept.

More then one lobby = less room for retail.
