I dont get it... if they want to have that surface lot ok fine, but bring the building out over it so its always covered, and you can have more rooms or whatever. Is there any reason for this besides cost savings?

That's what I was thinking. Or have the dropoff and handicap parking on the first floor of the garage and make the existing area patio area for another restaurant. The reason for it is understandable, but the location is just bad.

I'm not totally sure but I think the brown is some sort of wood accent. It looks textured compared to the white portions of the building.

If you do a Google search on Home 2 hotels, many of them have that ugly brown color on the exterior... There is a new one that just opened on fowler Ave, and it doesn't look good.

I am optimistic here, Pier House has some brown with white coloring and it looks rich....but this is a lot of brown to take in...perhaps they will rethink the color but its doubtful...obviously someone in the organization is partial to it and I don't think they are going to second guess it based on the neighborhood...

Not to be a dick or anything...but, it's a Hampton Inn :/

I agree that it is a blah design...but, it's a Hampton Inn. They're not exactly known for architectural prowess.

Can we ban Liberty Group or Related Group from any future developments downtown (I say that only half joking)? They can be free to develop in the suburbs, but should be blackballed from developing anything, say within a ten mile radius of downtown.

Meh, not much stopping this thing now. At least we will have a hotel in the district.

Although the design could be better, it could also be worse and it will be great to actually have something in the district besides mainly residential dotting the area. This will really fill in the void of activity that is seen when many residents are at work. And Starbucks, as much as it is a chain, will be open likely from 6 am to 11 pm, when most businesses and restaurants don't open until 4 or 5 pm. And lets be honest, Starbucks will be packed with residents in the morning, and likely during lunch, and then during the evening. This isn't going to be some retail slot sitting empty until 5 pm to only be open 5 or 6 hours.

I do hope this does give Liberty the reawakening it needs. After aLoft, they kind of gave themselves the bad publicity. I believe they have true potential and once this is up and running (with a likely sell shortly afterwards), they can stay focused and continue with their growth.

Also, what happens with the Warehouse Loft once this is completed? I feel like property rates will be too high for that land to stay as a one unit residential building once the hotel and Channel Club is completed. Yet at the same time, it's such a small lot once the hotels and garage are completed for another developer to have any interest. Only option I can see is whoever owns the hotels at the time that the warehouse and property is put up for sale builds a new Hilton brand tower on top of a parking garage, maybe a Tru.
